• Ich bin sehr erschüttert über den Tod meiner Schulfreundin Eva. Wir hatten eine wunderbare Jugendzeit in Berlin und später auch in unseren wechselnden Trips zwischen Berlin und Prag. • I knew Eva for many years professionally in her roles in radiation and environmental safety, first at the Health Sciences Centre and then at the University of Manitoba. Her role was regulatory with respect to our activities. She was very helpful, very professional, and always cordial. • Frantisek, Miloslav, Antonin, and Mila, My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. When I met Eva while going to the University of Alberta, I was completely taken by her colorful stories and brilliant, witty sense of humor. She was a source of such great joy for me then, and throughout the years since. I'll never forget her stories about her family back home; her greatest joy was always her boys and her family. No matter what was happening in her life, no matter how busy, no matter what the challenges, Eva always had an open door for friends and celebration. Eva's wisdom, her loving spirit, and her wonderful positive attitude are only a few of the great gifts she touched our hearts with - she will forever be a powerful force in my life. I hope that knowing the tremendous impact she made on the lives of those around her is in some way a comfort to her family now. • When Eva and the boys first arrived in Canada, Mila invited me over to their Michener Park apartment in Edmonton. I had my first taste of knedlicki and Czech food.
