PAULINE SKIBA Pauline Skiba, nee Kozminchuk, of Santa Maria, California, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Solaris Hospice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada after a long, hard-fought battle with heart and kidney diseases. Pauline was a very active member of the Santa Maria Community. She belonged to several local and national charitable organizations including Altrusa International, the Minerva Club, Santa Maria Beautiful, Santa Maria Valley Beautiful, the Santa Maria Senior Center and others. She served as President of several of those organizations in the past. Pauline also supported the Santa Maria Elks Lodge No. 1919 as her husband, Walter, was a long time member of that organization. Pauline is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sandy and Jim Matthews, granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Merideth and Todd Hadersbeck, grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Dennis and Julie Dodson and great-grandchildren: Mikayla (age eight) and Emily (age six) Hadersbeck and Nicole Dodson (age 13), brothers: Theodore, Victor and Brian Kozminchuk, sisters: Rose Kozminchuk, Phyllis Doran, and Bernice Mazur; and was predeceased by her sister Marilyn Kozminchuk, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada. A Mass will be held in Pauline's memory on August, 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 5075 Harp Rd., in Santa Maria, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Pauline Skiba to Altrusa International Foundation of Santa Maria; P.O. Box 5034, Santa Maria, CA 93456. • Fond memories from Winnipeg. With love to Pauline's family, John and Frieda Melnick and family. I remember being in California in the 1960's with my family and visiting with Pauline, Walter and Sandra Skiba. The Winnipeg connection remained strong so I would often hear through my parents news of the Skibas. Thank you for putting this announcement in our Free Press. My condolences on the passing of Pauline. Susan Melnick - Posted by: John and Frieda Melnick (friends) on: Jul 06, 2012
