BEVERLY MARIE LOVENUK (nee KURIAN) April 14, 1951 - July 10, 2012 Today the world lost a ray of sunshine and the heavens gained an angel. Dad lost a loving and devoted wife, his best friend; we lost a mother whose depth of love we never questioned; a Grandmother whose willingness to fight was driven by her desire to see her grandchildren grow old; a sister; an aunt; and a friend. We are grateful she is no longer in pain, but are devastated by how little time we had to spend with her. Mom and Dad celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on the 8th of July in a hospital room instead of dancing in a hall like they were supposed to. She gave her life and love to her husband Wayne, and to her children, Vincent, Shawn (Jocelyn) and Dawn (Chip). We always knew that we were her world, her whole world. When her grandchildren Zachary and Emma arrived, she was complete. She loved her time alone with them, and appreciated their individual beauty and gifts. She was very proud of Zack's achievements and knew that he had inherited her kind heart. She felt he was in tune with the angels when he held her hand. Emma was her energetic little sprite, and she was so proud of her amazing gift of drawing, which was evidenced by the gallery of pictures Mom kept in their home. She saved all of the snippets of our lives and nothing collected dust. She cared for scraps of paper and glitter given to her like they were priceless treasures. She loved to sing and hum and touch them lightly as she walked by. That is how she lived her life, and how she gently moved through ours. Mom fought till the end bravely with a strength none of us expected, and she was graceful, as always. We knew her heart was her best quality and it remained strong and true to her last breath. Her male nurses called her a little spitfire not realizing at first that she was small but determined. She left this world the way she wanted, held by loved ones, talking her up the path to Heaven. She would have wanted us to say Thank you to Dr. Gagnon, who was so wonderful, she couldn't say enough about him and his staff all these years. You brought her back to us, and we are grateful for the time we did have. To the staff at the Dryden General Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, we are blessed to know that she was in your caring hands. You tried your best, we know you did. To Donovan, her nurse, your compassion meant everything. You allowed us peace and spared her dignity. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Elma Ukrainian Catholic Church. Please join the family following the mass at the Elma Community Hall to celebrate her loving life.

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Having just spoken to Wayne, and hearing of Bev's passing we are just in shock. We will miss seeing you both, and our sincere sympathies go to Wayne and his family for their loss. - Posted by: Sonia and Gary (Regulars at the bus, and friends) on: Oct 08, 2012

  • It is with heart felt sadness that I learned this past weekend of Bev's passing. For weeks I've wondered why the bus was not at Pine Grove, and hoped that you'd be back next weekend - but it was not to be. For as long as Bev and Wayne operated the bus, we stopped on the way to the lake. I never knew their names for some time and so called them Mary and John, which so often brought a smile and chuckle to their faces - but I eventually learned their names and they mine. Wayne, what neither you nor Bev knew, is that I lost my wife Joan this last January to cancer, and so I have some understanding of what you're going through and experiencing. If at some time you'd like to talk, I'd be pleased to hear from you by phone or email. Please know that you and your family will now be on my prayer list and I will pray regularly for your entire family, and ask God's blessing on each of you, and that He'll comfort and come along side of each of you in your loss. We will miss the two of you greatly and the drive to the lake will not be the same. May the good Lord bless and keep you close. - Posted by: Ernie Warkentin (regulars at Zack's Bus) on: Aug 22, 2012

  • The weekend drives out to the cabin won't be the same. We'll miss the smiles that were always offered up. - Posted by: Shaun (customers at the burger bus) on: Aug 20, 2012

  • Today when I received the Whiteshell Echo and read in the Falcon Lake news report I was shocked to read of the sudden passing of Beverly. We have missed you both, Beverley and Wayne at Pine Grove and I just knew that something was not right when we hadn't seen your smiling faces and laughter for so many weeks. I hoped and prayed that no tragedy had happened to any of you or your family, and now I read that your dear Beverley has left your side and we are ever so grieved to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Wayne and as others have said, God has taken an angel from this Earth and placed Beverly in her heavenly home, but we only know it was only too soon for those who loved her here on Earth. Yours in Christ and with friendship and love, Jim and Eleanor - Posted by: Jim & Eleanor Griffiths (Zack's Burger Bus regulars and friends) on: Aug 10, 2012

  • Wayne, Dawn, Shawn,Vincent, Emma, and Zack You could not have given a better memorial of you Mom than what you have written. Bev. was a true friend, she had the most tender heart I have ever met. We love her dearly and share your sorrow at her home going to heaven. She did love her Lord and we know she is with Him now. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 says "we sorrow not as those that have no hope." We love each of you and are praying for you through this valley. Annetta and Mike - Posted by: Mike and Annetta Glowacki (long time friends) on: Jul 13, 2012
