BRYAN RICHARD FITZPATRICK
Born: Nov 24, 1952
Date of Passing: Jul 08, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRYAN RICHARD FITZPATRICK November 24, 1952 - July 8, 2012 Bryan Richard Fitzpatrick (age 59), formerly of Ottawa, Soest (Germany), Fredericton, Winnipeg, Rome, Sarajevo, and Bangkok, died unexpectedly at his home in Thailand on July 8, 2012. He was predeceased by his mother, Nelda (Gaudet); father, Carl; and son, Darcy. He is survived by his wife, Seranella; daughter, Arianna (Rome); son, Sean (Calgary); brothers, David (Winnipeg), and Robert (Rankin Inlet and Victoria); and many relatives and friends. Bryan was born in Ottawa and moved with his family to Germany, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. While living in Winnipeg, he attended school at Sargent Park, J.B. Mitchell, and Kelvin. He worked with the Federal Government in Ottawa, prior to taking a position with the World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome. Bryan retired from the WFP, as a Senior Budget Officer and decided to remain in Thailand. He was known for his subtle and astute sense of humour; his passion for playing his classical and jazz guitars; and his ability to cook foods from various cultures for his many friends and family. He was particularly adept in his ability to communicate articulately, in particular to write, and compose concise or detailed reports and strategy papers, efficiently and with the intended outcome. He will be missed by all friends and family. It is with deep sadness that his joie de vivre' is lost to us but many memories of our better times together are now greatly appreciated. A service will be held in Bangkok on Thursday, July 19, 2012. Bryan's wishes were to remain in Thailand and the family asks that no flowers be sent. Simply spend a moment recalling better times when Bryan was with us.

Bryan Fitzpatrick. A definite character with alot of committment. I had the opportunity to work with him on WFP Hong Kong --he was a board member and he helped us immensely. I also remember him from his days in Rome and even had a few long Friday afternoon lunches with him and the gang he used to go with. He knew how to enjoy life. May he rest in eternal peace with a smile on his face, knowing that he lived life fully. - Posted by: Cynthia (colleague) on: Aug 10, 2012

Bryan helped WFP Hong Kong, a local charitable organization in Hong Kong to raise funds for WFP after his retirement, from 2006 till he passed away. It is a great loss to WFP Hong Kong. He will be remembered for his generous passion and overwhelming sense of dedication. - Posted by: Zhen-Zhen (colleague and friend) on: Aug 10, 2012

Bryan and I attended JB together in the same homeroom. I was a hanger on during his garage band days and he inspired me to buy my first guitar. Always a smile and a joke. My deepest condolences to his family. May you play your wonderful music forever in our hearts. - Posted by: Lee Harrington (Friend) on: Jul 27, 2012

Bryan managed to fail enough to get from my brother Jon's class into mine. Grade 11 and 12 together we managed to turn failing grades into exam exemptions and stupify all our Kelvin teachers. So happy to have shared a time in his life and especially the music. - Posted by: Alexandra Hudson (friend) on: Jul 26, 2012

God be with the days..... I'll never forget his witty expressions, I still use many of them to this day. There were, and still are, a source of great laughter. He was so often the hidden hand behind the scene and worked in mysterious ways. Bryan, aka, the WFP Memo Man. I remember during the 1996 biennial budget sorting out the allocations with him... on the back of a beer mat in Sammy's Pub. He wrote a good budget that year.... How can anyone forget the lunches at Bryan's house in Rome. There would be enough food and beverage to feed the Seventh Legion, and always accompanied by his eclectic taste in music. On countless occasions, when we were all together, Byran would recant his humorous stories of what he coined "WFP's Heroes". Sadly he joins the ranks of true WFP Heros. Forever, in our hearts. - Posted by: Mac (Friend and colleague) on: Jul 24, 2012

Bryan and I were in our first garage band as kids in Winnipeg...he wrote well even at a young age. We played for two summers and it is still one of my fondest memories...music is still a part of my life and as are my memories of Bryan. "Take a guitar with you my friend"..."there is a great band in heaven waiting on your talent". Tim - Posted by: Tim Stephenson (Friend) on: Jul 18, 2012
