RUTH WALDMAN Ruth Waldman peacefully passed away on July 17, 2012, after a short illness, in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 93. Ruth was born on a farm outside of Winnipeg and grew up there with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She came to Winnipeg to go to high school at United College, later University of Winnipeg, where she met Cy the love of her life. They were married in 1943 and were inseparable for the next 57 years until his untimely death in 2000. She lived for the next 12 years in the Edinburgh House with the help of her caregivers Hilda, Brenda and Lucille. Her baby sister Beatrice lived downstairs and they were inseparable companions spending many hours together every day. She was devoted to her three children and three grandchildren, always telling everyone of their accomplishments. A month before she died she was thrilled to hold her first great-grandchild Kiori. Her sense of humour and unstinting love and affection for her family will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister Beatrice; her children Murray, Gary and Francis; her grandchildren Michael, Daniel, and Kyle, and her great-grandchild Kiori. The funeral will be held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, July 20. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
