RENE JOSEPH ROY
Date of Passing: Jul 27, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRENE JOSEPH ROY It is with much sadness that our family announces that Rene Joseph Roy, beloved husband, father, pepere and brother passed away at Riverview Health Centre on July 27, 2012, at the age of 62, after a brief illness. Rene was born on October 29, 1949 in Hearst, Ontario, the last of 12 children. Rene grew up in Hearst, loving life on the farm, and moved with his sister Cecile to Winnipeg in 1972. Rene met his future wife Monique in the same apartment building he lived in, and within a year of meeting, they set about their lives together. Their daughter, Shelley was born in 1976, followed by their sons Garett in 1979 and Daniel in 1980. Rene worked as a carpet installer for Eaton's for almost two decades, and as a sub-contractor until shortly before his passing. Rene worked long hours to provide for his family, but always found time to play with his children as they grew up. Those who knew Rene knew he was a man of great strength, immense heart, and who lived his life full of passion. He could always be relied on to help others, and accomplished tasks tirelessly and without complaint. Rene enjoyed sports and excelled at hockey and fastball. Rene lived for the outdoors, with his children having many fond memories of skating, snowmobiling and tobogganing with their dad. He loved boating, fishing, and water-skiing, and spent countless hours at Rock Lake enjoying these activities with friends and family. Rene and Monique were proud of the cabin they built at Rock Lake, making a second home for themselves, their children and grandchildren. Rene was a man of great faith and gave his life to the Lord as a young man. His church family were an important part of his life, offering love and support to Rene and his family throughout the years, especially with the untimely passing of his son Garett. Rene enjoyed sharing his love of the Lord with others, whether with strangers or those who shared his faith. His faith in the Lord never wavered, even in the last days of his life. Whether deliberate or not, his zeal for life and love of laughter would immediately fill any room he was in. His intensity and passion were evident in everything he did. It is hard to think of Rene without also thinking about him joyfully playing his guitar, singing and entertaining others with his yodelling, French folk, and country songs. He would often be relied upon to lead a congregation in praise and worship. Rene imparted his love of music and guitar to his children. Rene cherished his grandchildren, Caiden and Reece Gault, and Nathan, Adeline and Isaak Shaw. It was through his grandchildren that Rene's true personality shone, as his passion and intensity were turned into pure and innocent love; his pranks, his boisterous laugh that inevitably followed those pranks (even when he was the only one laughing) and his contentment as he made his grandchildren smile. Rene is survived by his loving wife, Monique, daughter Shelley (Souradet), son Daniel (Jill) and daughter-in-law Darcie (Steve). He is also survived by his sisters Leonie (Armand), Cecile (Lawrence), Helene (Norman); his brothers Elias, Edmond, Andre (Florence), Laurent (Sue), Joseph (Lucille), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rene was predeceased by his son Garett, parents August and Lucienne, and siblings Emmanuel and Germaine. Rene was at peace when he passed, visited by friends and family who came from far and wide in the last weeks of his life, and surrounded by the presence of his loved ones at his passing. His is a memory that will be cherished and shared, in the hearts of those whom he loved, and the hearts of those who loved him. Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Blvd. A reception will follow in the same location. The family would like to thank family and friends who have offered and provided support, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff from the Palliative Care Program. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Rock Lake Ministries (P.O. Box 22, Pilot Mound, MB R0G 1P0) or Hospice Palliative Care Manitoba.

It is with great sadness that I read the loss of Rene, in 1977, Rene came to our home to install carpet and thanks to his infectious love of Christ, I was saved. He simply invited me to knee in my leaving room and accept the lord as my savior. It was moving and funny at the same time. Rene and I laughed about it together many years later. As the lord saw him through hard times, we are comforted to know He will do it for those Rene leaves behind. Merci Rene. See you in heaven. - Posted by: Mariette (Sister in christ) on: Jul 31, 2012

The Kingdom of God on earth will miss this wonderful brother. Lots of fond memories of prophetic prayer times, working at WCC and Rock Lake. Monique, I believe that something of his anointing will rest on you. I believe that prophetic revelation and anointing will come forth in your teaching gift.
