Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN A. KERR, P. Eng. November 5, 1930 - June 23, 2012 John Kerr passed away in Victoria, B.C., on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the age of 81. He is survived by his three sons, Roberto (Joana) and their children Lucas, Gabriela and Mateus; Daniel (Dona); and Clifford, all of Vancouver. Also survived by his ex-wife, the sons' mother, Angelica Bachynski; sister Marion (Mickey) Reid of Selkirk, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Helen Kerr, sister Shirley and brothers-in-law Ken Haynes and Clyde Reid. John was born in The Pas, MB, where he attended school, farmed and trapped furs in the Carrot River Valley. He graduated from the University of Manitoba, earning the Gold Medal in Civil Engineering in 1952. He was awarded the Athlone Scholarship for post-graduate study in London, England. He visited 140 countries, working on hydroelectric projects in some of them, retiring in 1997, from Environment Canada in Yellowknife, NT. John spoke at least seven languages and enjoyed chatting with newcomers to Canada. In 2006, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, against which he struggled bravely. John's ashes will be scattered in Northern Manitoba, the land he loved.
