Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ODOKEYCHUK (nee STOROSCHUK) After a long and well lived life, Mary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Bethania Personal Care Home. Mom was born in Senkiw, Manitoba, on December 8, 1922. She came to Winnipeg as a young woman where she met her future husband Bill. They were married on March 11, 1944, and spent 66 happy years together. Although Mom worked for many years as a cashier in Eaton's Valley Room, her greatest joy and focus was her family. She had a passion for cooking and proudly made wonderful bread, delicious pyrogies, cabbage rolls and other family favorites. She canned, preserved and baked to the delight of us all. Mom also loved to crochet and enjoyed playing solitaire. Mom and Dad were faithful members of Grace Christian Church for over 40 years. The fellowship of their Church family was very important to them and their faith sustained them through difficult times. In July 2006 they moved to Concordia Village which she said was like living in a hotel. After Bill's passing, Mom moved to Bethania Personal Care Home where she enjoyed many activities (especially the baking group) and where she felt happy, well cared for and peaceful. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son Ken (Julie), daughter-in-law Dorothy and son-in-law Randy (Dianne). Grandma Mary was very special to her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by Tim (Julie), Alana, Kim and Scott (Mary) and great-granddaughters Neve Mae and Holly Elizabeth Mary. Sharing our loss are her brothers Steve and Morris, sister-in-law Sophie, brother-in-law Arnie, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was sadly predeceased by her daughter Linda in 1996, son Garry in 2005 and husband Bill in 2010. A service to celebrate Mom's life will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Christian Church, 50 Barnes St. Cremation has taken place. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mary's memory to Bethania Personal Care Home or Hands of Hope would be appreciated.
