FIORINA PANICO (nee CURATOLO) It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Fiorina Panico. Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 90. She was born in Quaglietta (Avellino) Italy on November 11, 1921. Her son, Italo Panico, her treasured grandchildren Martino and Alycia, numerous nieces and nephews and many close, longtime friends will miss her greatly. In 1992 her husband, Martino, of 38 years, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her father and mother and all seven siblings. Together with her husband and young son they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1958. Fiorina worked for many years in the garment industry ending with a 17 year employment with the Grace Hospital until she retired at the age of 63. Fiorina's life was mainly centered on her home and family. She enjoyed cooking traditional dishes and looked forward to Sunday dinners. She was a passionate gardener taking special care to grow a variety of vegetables, at her home, up until last summer. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. (viewing at 10:00 a.m.) at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Thank you to the staff at Grace Hospital and Tuxedo Villa for making mom's final days most comfortable.
