Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNARD (BEN) HOEPPNER 1923 - 2012 "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe" - Psalm 4:8. On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Bernard Hoeppner went home to heaven to be with his Saviour after a lengthy stay at Health Sciences Centre. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Hoeppner of Winkler, as well as 14 nieces and nephews and their families. Ben, as he was known by everyone, was born on March 31, 1923 to Jacob and Katherina Hoeppner in the RM of Stanley. He was the second youngest in a family of 10 children. He spent his childhood years in the RM of Stanley before embarking on his life's journey. Ben was a quiet and private person who worked hard. Life at times was difficult for him but in spite of this he was a caring and charitable person. His faith in Jesus Christ sustained him through the happy and the difficult times. Ben attended Calvary Temple where he was baptized on July 26, 1987. Sincere thanks to his long time friend, Jake Rempel who faithfully visited and encouraged Ben on his journey. Thank you also to the caregivers on D3, A3 and the Spiritual Care Department at Health Sciences Centre for the exceptional care and respect shown to Ben during his lengthy stay. To the staff at Arlington Haus, thank you for your patience and the kindness shown during the many years he was a resident there. Thank you also to Jean, the Community Health nurse who looked after Ben's medical needs through the years. Viewing will be on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden followed by a 3:00 p.m. committal service at Southside Cemetery in Morden. The memorial service for Ben Hoeppner will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sterling Mennonite Fellowship, 1008 Dakota St. in Winnipeg. I am grateful to have known Ben. He was frugal and careful, and never asked for more than he needed. He appreciated the small things and loved to sit and talk about how he fixed things and the simple "old ways of life". His independence was remarkable, and he would gently move things back to the way he had them before if I dared suggest a small move may make it easier for him.... May he rest in peace with his Lord. - Posted by: Jean Chennell (Registered Nurse and friend..) on: Oct 29, 2012
