ANNA HIEBERT (nee PENNER) 1938 2012 On Thursday October 18, 2012 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Anna Hiebert, aged 73 years of Winkler, MB formerly of Winnipeg went to her eternal rest. Anna was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1938 and moved with her parents to southern Manitoba in 1952. She married Angus Hiebert in 1959 in Winnipeg and raised a family of four while working part time. She and Angus farmed in Thalberg, MB in the 1970s and moved back to Winnipeg in 1975. She worked the next 27 years with homecare, first in Winnipeg and then in Winkler. In 1996, Anna moved to Winkler to be closer to her mother and sister, Tina. She continued to work for homecare and volunteered with the Winkler Horticulture Society, Meals on Wheels, Winkler Senior Centre, and the ladies' group at Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and baking but her greatest joy was the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She travelled extensively (often with Fehrway Tours) within Manitoba, across Canada, to Disney World, Mexico and as far away as Hawaii and Israel. She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Linda and Ron Wiebe of Calgary, AB, Connie Lester and her friend, Wolf Kraft of Winnipeg, two sons, Roy Hiebert of Winnipeg, David and Debbie Hiebert of East Selkirk, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Isaac and Esther Penner and sister-in-law Jackie (Martin) Penner of Winkler. She was predeceased by her husband, Angus in 1989, two sisters and three brothers. Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 8th St. in Winker and at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, 189 2nd St. with interment at Westridge Memorial Gardens. Anna has requested that no flowers be sent. If friends so desire, she would be pleased for donations to be made in her memory to either the World Vision Child Sponsorship Program (1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON L5T 2Y4), Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care (bthcfoundation.com) or to your local church. • This writing was read by me to my mother just weeks before her passing into the best part of eternity. Dearest Mom (Based very loosely on Proverbs 31:29-31) I can think of all the words they speak Of all that you have done They all are appropriate But still miss describing who you are You have been there for others again and again And no one can compare Of all who live on earth today You are the most fair You’ve rescued me from falling flat And bandaged all my wounds You’ve treated all with dignity You’ve walked me through so many trials I never could repay All that you have done and all the words you say They will be remembered As will you For the remainder of my days There’s none on earth Who have had your influence on my ways I may have led down crooked paths To an early grave Without your loving guidance and every word you gave I am what I am today Because you lived Christ’s example to me And gave unselfishly to all who came your way (Yes, I noticed) I am a proud product of a godly mother Who always steered me towards the truth of God’s word For that I will never be ashamed to rise up at the gate And call you blessed. - Posted by: Roy (son) on: Feb 05, 2013

  • My grandma was the best woman you could ever meet. So kind. So pure. She was my rock....more of a mother to me than a grandma. I could tell her anything and she never judged me. No matter how good or bad she was always proud of me. She always knew the right thing to say to lift my spirits. We always made a point to call each other once every couple weeks just to talk about everything and anything.I would visit her as much as I could in Winkler.Growing up she brought me to Winkler every chance she could. And I loved every minute of it.I miss her so much. I miss our talks. I miss her smile. Grandma I love you so much. Your always in my heart.I will never forget all our special time we shared. Our talks. Our visits. You will always be my rock to lean on. xoxoxo - Posted by: Tammy McCaughan (granddaughter) on: Nov 11, 2012
