RAE MARY CORMIER (CRAWFORD)
Date of Passing: Dec 08, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAE MARY CORMIER (nee CRAWFORD) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rae Mary Cormier, aged 61 years, on Saturday, December 8, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Raymond Cormier, her children Kurt (Andrea), Darren (Angie), and Jared (Marni) Cormier and her grandchildren Tyler, Caleb, Luc, Sadie, Mary, Delia, William, Leo and Colton Cormier. She was predeceased by her mother Frances Crawford (nee Snyder) and survived by her father Raymond Crawford, her brothers Ken, Don and Rod Crawford and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rae did not let cancer define who she was, how she felt, or how she acted. She was selfless, courageous and brave beyond words and is an inspiration to those she has left behind. The family would like to thank the daily visitors, both family and friends, who joked, laughed, and cheated at cards. The celebration of Rae's life will take place Friday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hyacinthe Church in La Salle, presided by Rev. Cathy Maxwell. Reception to follow at the La Salle Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Central Regional Health Authority Palliative Care Program, Attn: Paulette Goossen, 3-30 Stephen St., Morden, MB R6M 2G3.

My heart goes out to Mr. Cormier, and Kurt, Darren, and Jared & their families. Rae had a wonderful smile and a laugh that I can remember since childhood. We had a long chat last year after I lost my dad, and I remember how much I appreciated her sense of humour and positivity in the face of dealing with her own battle. You can include my heart among the many she has touched. Thinking of you all. - Posted by: Danielle Roberts (family friend) on: Dec 14, 2012

So sorry to read of Rae Mary's passing. Condolences to the Crawford and Cormier families. I too, will remember the good times playing ball with Rae Mary, Linda and Gail. She was a heck of a pitcher in her day. I'll cherish the memories. R.I.P. - Posted by: Lori Grandmont (Howard) friend and fellow Cougarette () on: Dec 14, 2012

Even though Rae struggled with repeating her story over and over to accommodate inquires, she displayed only kindness, thoughtfulness and respect to others. We were always touched by her happy, positive attitude regardless of the pain she must have endured. If we were having a rough day she uplifted us, and brightened ‘our’ day. Rae was a ‘Rae of Sunshine’ Rae was so very thoughtful and selfless checking-up on cousin Vic, and planning visits to his bedside at the St B or Victoria hospitals between her treatments at HSC. She even tried to see dad when he had a virus, but fortunately decided against the visit. When Rae came by she would leave cute wrapped handmade treats by dad’s bedside to brighten his day, as well as mine. Although we are second cousins we never really spent time together until recent years. Last year I sent Rae a poem that made me think of her, ‘A Reason A Season or A Lifetime. People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime...’ Rae was as a new friend, and in my life for a reason. What a great lady! Thank you for the gift of ‘Rae’ Our condolences go out to Raymond, his sons and their families; also our deepest sympathy to Rae’s father Raymond, and brothers Rod, Don, and Ken. - Posted by: Sheryl Watt and family (cousins) on: Dec 12, 2012

Rae Mary was one who always got her school work done but had time for baseball and outside fun. She had a wonderful smile and caring disposition. She will be profoundly missed not only by family but friends as well. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to have a short but wonderful visit with her and Raymond in Oct of this year. She will always be a wonderful memory from my youth and a great memory of my last visit. Be in peace. - Posted by: shauna detjen (friend from elementary years) on: Dec 10, 2012

Rae and I worked together close to 40 years ago - but made an effort to keep in touch over the years. Barb, another co-worker from those years gone by, and I enjoyed our visits with Rae immensely, laughing and reminiscing. I was happy to help Raymond and the family out with driving Rae to her dr. appointments occasionally and I was so impressed by this courageous woman who insisted on doing things on her own when she could, testing her independence. I never heard her complain and I saw a woman who loved life with a vengeance. We'll all miss her. My sympathies to you Raymond - and all of the family. My condolences go out to Raymond, his sons and their families; also my deepest sympathy to Raymond, Don, and Ken Crawford. Rae was good friends with my sister, Linda and my brother, Paul. I remember her ready smile and happy nature whether it was at Argyle School, in 4H Club or on the ball field for the Teulon Cougarettes ball team. She worked hard and knew how to have fun.
