ROSE RUPPENTHAL
Date of Passing: Dec 24, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE RUPPENTHAL Peacefully, with her family by her side, Rose Ruppenthal passed away on December 24, 2012; just five days shy of her 99th birthday. She was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Anne Willis, her loving husband Arthur and her five siblings Mary Stefanco, Helen Wellis, Tony Wallis and Jean Ibbott (with all five children of Nicholas and Anne living into their 90s). Rose is survived by her daughter Wendy (Michael Sersun) and son Charles; grandchildren Sandy (Rob Katrynuik), Pamela (Dwayne Marling), Keith (Maggie), Leanne, and Gavin; great-grandchildren Stacey, Ryan, McKenzie, Blaine and Dominic; nieces, nephews and close friends. Rose spent her life in Winnipeg and graduated from St. John's High School. In 1935 she met the love of her life, Arthur. Due to the depression and the scarcity of jobs, they waited until July 1939 before marrying. They were happily married for over 58 years before Arthur passed away in April 1998. Rose had many interests, enjoying baseball as a young girl, and sewing, knitting, crochet and needlework to mention a few. She was very skillful with her hands and we have many of her crafts in which to treasure. Later in life she participated in square dancing and bowling (which earned her an all-expense paid trip to Jamaica in 1963). In 1968 Rose and Arthur purchased a cottage at Betula Lake. She retired from Canada Manpower in the early 1970s which afforded them more time to spend at their cottage. It was a place for them to relax, entertain family and friends and participate in all the activities of cottage life. They travelled to Europe and Hawaii with their friends as well as to many other parts of Canada and the USA. Very close to Rose were dear friends sister-in-law Betty and her husband, Bill McLellan. In compliance with Rose's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Rose's life to be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of A2 and D3 at Riverview Health Centre for all the kind and loving care over the past few months. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations can be made to a charity of their choice. Mum, you will be truly missed.
