ROSE STOFFMAN Rose Stoffman, 89, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2013. Rose was born in Winnipeg on December 16, 1923. She was predeceased by her husband Al, with whom she shared almost 60 years before he passed in 1999. She is survived by her children Carol (Len), and Jim (Sandra); grandchildren Marty (Lesley), Lesley (Chris), Hart, and great-grandchildren Erin, Jacob, Aiden, Ashley and Jessica. Rose was an intensely proud woman who came from a simple and traditional upbringing. She shared a close bond with her late father, David, who taught her the essence of Yiddishkeit. She was a pillar of strength and comfort to her family, and was ever available at a moment's notice. Rose had a remarkably generous heart and a natural desire to give of herself. Her needs were always secondary to those of her family. She lived a life where there was always room for an extra chair at her Shabbat dinners. Whether it was appreciating a Gimli sunset, going for a stroll in Hawaii, spoiling her beloved dogs, or working on her garden, Rose found interest, beauty and joy in her day-to-day life. She had a wide range of interests which included painting, reading, cooking, auditing university classes, and sculpting. At 65 she opened her modest import/export business (Golden Roses). At 75, Rose got her first computer. Our memories of someone who was so tirelessly and unconditionally loving and devoted to her husband and family will leave an ever-lasting imprint. Rose passed quietly with a graveside service at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park on January 15. Pallbearers were Dr. Marty Spiller, Hart Stoffman, Alvin Slayen, Dr. Noah Weiszner, Terry Gutkin, and Al Rosenberg. Honorary Pallbearers were Lesley and Chris Knodel, Doug Simpson, and Joy Stoffman. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Simkin Centre (Weinberg 1) for the warmth, kindness, and care that they provided our Mother for the last two years.

Two years ago today my great-grandma died. She was a huge inspiration and role model in my life. Not many people get to meet their great-grandparents but I spent the first 14 years of my life with her and I'm thankful for every minute I got to. She was such a strong independent woman. I miss you RIP ♥ - Posted by: Ashley Knodel (Granddaughter ) on: Jan 13, 2015

I personally have wonderful memories of Aunt Rose going back almost 60 years. What a woman--more love to give than anyone I have ever known! It was always neat when she was around because she always said what was on her mind. For the close family remember and laugh the dried apricots, mangoes, the Pope and water guns. Ask any of us for the whole story and be prepared to laugh. To Carol and Jim and assorted gradchildren - time will heal the pain and you will be left with with only warm and happy memories. Love to you all and really is a small gene pool. Allan Stoffman, Dan Ireland, Malcolm and Morgan Stoffman and all the great nephews and niece - Posted by: Allan Stoffman (nephew) on: Jan 23, 2013

Aunt Rose was a wonderful woman - intelligent, full of good humour and kind. Her visits to us in London were much anticipated and appreciated. We always knew there would be lots of laughs and good food (including Winnipeg goldeye) when she and Uncle Al were with us. Our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Naomi Stoffman (niece ) on: Jan 23, 2013

While I did not know Mrs. Rose Stoffman, from what I read your whole family have lost a very precious part of your lives. I am very sorry to Jim and his family in the loss of your treasured Mother. Having just lost my son I can imagine the pain it causes to lose someone so dear and am sorry you must go through this very unhappy time in your life. Remember the wonderful times spent together and that will help the days to be just a little bit more easier knowing you knew such a special person as your Mom. Please accept our kind thoughts to you and your family. - Posted by: Lynn Newlin (Simpovich Solylo) (Client of Jim Stoffman) on: Jan 22, 2013

My grandma was an amazing woman up until the day she died. Grandma was a huge part in my life. She was always there for me and made me feel special when I was little. My grandma loved me and she made sure you knew she did. When she got older and she was put into a home, she always had a smile on her face when we visited. I want her to leave this world knowing how loved and appreciated she is and that we all will have a special place in our harts for her. She will always be there for me. Watching over me from a cloud in heaven. 89 years of life.. congratulations grandma we will miss you lots. Thank you for always being there. I love you so much. Rest In Peace♥ - Posted by: Ashley Knodel (Great Greandma) on: Jan 15, 2013
