MONIKA WEISER We regret to announce the sudden passing of our mother Monika January 13, 2013, at the age of 71, from complications of a stroke she suffered a week prior. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Hedwig and Josef, and her husband Frank. She is survived by her sons Robert (Susan), Steven (Krista), Brian (Erin); her grandchildren Matthew, Lindsay, Aeryk, Marah, Jakeb, Carter, Macie, Sophia, Everhett, and her sisters Ulla and Hanna. Mom and her sisters were raised by their mother during difficult times in post war Berlin fostering her inner strength, perseverance and determination. Seeking a better life, she immigrated to Canada in 1959, arriving in Winnipeg, where she worked for Hertig and Sons before meeting Dad and starting a family of their own in St. Vital. Kind hearted and patient almost to a fault, she was the eternal optimist, never complaining about the curves that life would throw at her along the way and she always felt that her cup was half full. Mom took immense pride in raising her three boys and supporting her husband. In later years, Mom went out of her way to help her friends Sophie and Hazel despite her own personal challenges. She taught us about patience, virtue, love, forgiveness, determination and will always be remembered as being one of a kind.
