Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MINDELL 1919 - 2013 Rose Mindell (Malmed) passed away peacefully on February 28, 2013 after a short bout with cancer. Rose was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family matriarch, friend and community member. She will be dearly missed by Joe, her husband of 72 years, children Shayla and Sheldon (Tannis), grandchildren Fern (Steffan), Jill (Mike), Drew (Laura), and great-grandchildren Oliver and Hailey. Rose was born in Poland to Shoylick and Faige Malmed on July 20, 1919 and came to Winnipeg as a young girl. She was predeceased by her parents and three younger sisters Ann, Lily and Beverley. Rose will be remembered with love by cousins, nieces and nephews in California, Nevada, Ontario and Winnipeg. She will be a great loss to all of her friends and family members because she was the glue that kept them together. Her memory will live in the lives of people she touched. Who will now be responsible for remembering birthdays, anniversaries or special events! Rose was an active member of the Jewish community, a committed volunteer, Mah Jong player, baker of family favourites, and a life-long member of the Dvorah Drachler Chapter of Na'Amat. Rose visited other parts of the world but was most excited when attending family events wherever they occurred. Her warmth, generosity and welcoming nature made her a true people person. Donations in her memory may be made to the Rose and Joe Mindell Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, 204-477-7525, the Gwen Sector Creative Living Centre, 204-339-1701, or a charity of your choice.
