ESTHER LILLIAN HALVARSON (BACKMAN) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our very special Aunty, on April 24, 2013. Esther was born on November 4, 1923 in Melville, SK, the youngest child of Sven and Gerta Backman, sister to Ed, Carl, Sid, Ernie and Elsie who predeceased her. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Esther worked as a secretary for the Searle Grain Co. She was a voracious reader, loved to sew and knit and garden. She married Elmer Halvarson on January 17, 1955, together they enjoyed traveling, and their home and yard on Jubilee Avenue. Elmer predeceased her in 1976, she continued traveling with her sister-in-law, Peggy Backman and residing in their home until her passing. The family would like to thank the W.R.H.A. and home care for their thoughtful and gentle care of Esther. In her memory, donations can be made to CNIB or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral will be held on Monday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. No more grey days Aunty Esther!!
