RICK MUELLER December 19, 1955 - April 28, 2013 Rick Mueller was born in Fritzlar, Germany in 1955. The second youngest in a family of seven children, Rick immigrated to Canada in 1974 to start a new adventure at the age of 19. Initially he worked in his uncle's general store in Manitou, Manitoba until he quickly perfected his English. It was so perfect in fact, that many people were surprised to learn that German was his first language. He moved to Winnipeg in 1984, and soon after joined CKJS - a multilingual radio station selling advertising. He worked with the crew at CKJS for over 20 years, becoming the station's top-selling producer. Then, struck by an entrepreneurial fervor, he went into business for himself - first with the Flyer Zone, and later Paladin Display, as a North American distributor of trade show and display products. Rick had a naturally outgoing personality and caring, genuine presence that helped him form many lifelong friendships from his long-standing, large and loyal client base. In the past two months of Rick's brief illness, he was so pleased to receive visits from many of them, and will be especially missed by his close friends Steve, Todd, Kristen, Eva, Berndt, Joyce and Bob. He loved them all like family, and family truly meant everything to him. Rick absolutely lived for his sunshines' - his daughters Shannon and Andrea (Mike), his granddaughters Ashley, and Hailey, his wife of 20 years Kristin, as well as her family the Loadmans (Don, Gail, Kim and Greg,). He adored nights spent on the deck, looking at the stars and gourmet food. He had a good word to say about everyone and if you ever asked Rick how he was, no matter how tough the day, he'd unfailingly answer I can't complain'. He held a great respect for all living creatures, and his loving nature extended to many family pets, especially his beagle pack' Cali, Bella and Koda. A dog-spoiler extraordinaire, he always carried treats in his pockets for his customers' and friends' pets. His sudden illness and passing from cancer will leave a huge gap that we know will never completely heal, or be filled. A Come & Go Celebration to mark his life will be held at home, in La Salle, on Saturday, May 11 for family and friends. Rick, we will truly miss you. Donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Children's Ward in his honour. Wojcik's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, 204 - 897 - 4665, wojciksfuneralchapel.com.

To the girls he was Opa, to me, a true friend. I recall the walks along the tracks, the evenings on the deck and the many occasions just chilling on the couch with Kristin and Rick. I could never have wished for better friends to cross my path and I have been blessed to have had three years of unconditional friendship. Rick’s wonderful acts of kindness will never be forgotten. He was one of the most generous, kindest people I’ve known. Rick was an especially giving person and treated Katrina and Gabi like his own grandchildren. They loved him so!!!! There is a void in our lives with his passing. Kristin, Andrea, Shannon and family - be strong, love one another, may God bless and comfort you. - Posted by: Val, Katrina and Gabi Myers (Friends) on: May 10, 2013

It's been many years since I have seen Rick, but I have such fond memories when I think of him. Rick was a Big Brother to my nephew Brad and that meant so much to our family. My sincere condolences to your family. - Posted by: Mona Yetman (Friend) on: May 09, 2013

To Andrea and Shannon: My deepest sorrow for the loss of your father, and to Ashley and Hailey, I am pretty sure that your Opa is still sending you love and watching over you. I knew your dad for close to 25 years, and I still hear his voice, telling some joke, laughing and laughing some more. I remember his smile, and will never forget what a wonderful person he was - his kindness, gentleness, and the immense love he carried within and shared with so many. I feel blessed to have known your dad and I will never forget him. You were always the Lights of his Life, and his love for you was an amazing thing to see. My thoughts are with you during this sad time. Love and Peace to you, Cindy - Posted by: Cynthia Gabriel () on: May 08, 2013

Josie and I are deeply saddened and in shock to hear the news of Rick’s death. I feel a great pain in my heart... I had known Rick for 30 years. He was a remarkable human being. He possessed the virtue of altruism; always concerned in the well-being of others and not expecting personal gratification. His friendship and respect was invaluable at work and outside. We shared so many many good times.... and yes ... few not so good, but, as always, I will treasure the many good ones. To Shannon, Andrea and Kristen our deepest sympathy. We are so very sorry for your loss. Tony and Josie Carta - Posted by: Tony & Josie Carta (Friend) on: May 06, 2013

I was introduced to Rick about 13 years ago and as being relatively new to Winnipeg at the time he became one of my first true friends and was someone's company that I really enjoyed, whether it be out for a round of golf, or a BBQ at Rick and Kristin's house. Sadly I have not seen or talked to Rick for over a year and was shocked when I learned of his illness and very sudden passing. Kristin, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Although it was years ago (2007 and before) I still thought about Kristen, Rick and their pups quite regularly. Rick was a very nice fellow, I'm sorry he had to leave so soon. Thinking of you still. -Megan B - Posted by: Megan Braun (Former Co-Worker w/ Kristen) on: May 04, 2013
