ELLEN (ELLA) ROSS (KYLES)
Date of Passing: Jun 10, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN (ELLA) ROSS (nee KYLES) After a lifetime of challenges which were met, head-on, with the support of a loving family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, Ellen died at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Monday, June 10, 2013. Ellen leaves her daughter Jennifer (Toronto); son Alastair (Winnipeg); and beloved grandchildren Emma, Kate and Alec. At Ellen's own request, there will be no service. Her remains will be returned to Scotland to be with those of her beloved parents, The Rev. David Kyles, M.A. and Mrs. Helen Kyles; dear brother, David; and her much loved husband, Maxwell (Max) Ross. We would like to thank Doctors R. S. Rehal, W. P. Grobler and R. Hamedani for their care and understanding. Jennifer and Alastair extend their gratitude to the nurses, aides, staff and doctors of the 5th floor of the Grace who were so attentive to Ellen's care in these last few weeks. The family graciously decline flowers but it was her hope that her death might benefit others less fortunate. Ellen donated annually to a number of charities and, in this spirit of generosity, we welcome donations to the charity of your choice. I offer my deepest sympathies to the family of Ellen Ross. Just found out through this newspaper announcement by doing research on my own family. - Posted by: Morag Mason (Ellen's father and Morag's father are cousins and lived in Scotland) on: Sep 13, 2017

When I was 21 (in 1979) Ella attended my daughter's home birth in Winnipeg. She was kind, patient, tireless and made me feel safe and well cared for. I'll never forget her. Kris Anderson - Posted by: Kris Anderson (midwife's client) on: Feb 04, 2016

Ella and I worked at the Winnipeg VON in the 1970's. We became fast friends and did keep in touch after I moved to Toronto. I would like to get in touch with Ella's daughter, Jennifer, in Toronto if possible. Ella will be so happy to be back in Scotland. - Posted by: Sylvia Barr (Friend and co-worker) on: Dec 14, 2014

I have known Ellen since I started working in the Intermediate Care Nursery in 1983. She was a very caring, compassionate, dedicated, and excellent nurse as well as a good friend. I admired and respected her for her intelligence, immense knowledge, gumption and full of wits. When she retired she came back to cuddle babies in IMCN aside from her volunteer work in different hospices. She was instrumental in starting the Cuddler Program in IMCN filled by volunteers who are retired nurses or nurses who have extra time to spare. Her legacy in nursing will never be forgotten. She will be missed by the rest of us who've known her. Josie. - Posted by: Josie Falconer (Colleague and friend) on: Jun 15, 2013
