THEODORE ELIDOROS Born March 2, 1923 went to another Bonspiel June 17, 2013 Oh, I have slipped the surely bonds of earth', And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward Ive climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds.... And done a hundred things you have not dreamed of....Wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the sunlit silence wind along and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air . Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, Where never Lark, or even Eagle, flew; And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God . Ted and Francie are together again and will be going out for an evening of cocktails, socializing.... and dancing the night away at the Glenmore Curling club.... don't wait up.... You are invited to leave a fond memory or message of condolence at the family's on-line guest book at www.myalternatives.ca 604-857-5779

I am writing on behalf of my Auntie Gina, now 94 years old, who lovingly remembers cousin Theo as being like another brother to her as he grew up living in their home. She will miss him dearly. (Donna Marsh nee Lindsay) - Posted by: Georgina Stevens (Cousin) on: Aug 13, 2013

Reading about Ted!s passing brought back fond memories of the fun we had at 283 with him and Francie. Ted was also very kind in sharing his rhubarb over the fence. - Posted by: John and barb Gural (Long time neighbours and members ANAF 283 and of the retired and over 55 club) on: Jul 06, 2013

Brian and Karen: I was so sorry to hear about your dad. I will always have fond memories of when you all came to Winnipeg for holidays and stayed with us in our home on Downing Street on several summers when Bruce and I were very young. I can still hear his booming laugh! He had such a hearty laugh and he, your mom and my parents laughed so often. They truly had some amazing times together over the years. My sincere condolences to both of you. - Posted by: Janice (Hanson) Tennant () on: Jul 01, 2013

I met Ted when i joined the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg and I know he will be remembered by long term members of our church. Our condolences to his family and friends on his passing. Like many, I appreciated that the poem "High Flight" marked his passing - the imagery is very uplifting even at a time of sorrow. - Posted by: Norma Drosdowech (First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg) on: Jun 24, 2013

Memories of Theo. There were those hot summer days at Twin Beaches consisting of pouring concrete during the day, the ritual of lighting BBQ briquettes at 4:00 p.m., followed by steak dinner and in the evening a couple of hours of cards. We also shared a trip to Antigua and Barbados with Theo and Francie back in the day. One of their friends also joined us. I remember him only by the nickname of Captain Tuna. The nickname was given to him by Theo because, as Theo explained, his friend wouldn’t go sailing with us because he was “chicken of the sea”. Expo 67 found us in Montreal and in the evening after a day of touring pavilions, what else would we do but play cards. When 11 p.m. rolled by, Theo and Francie played along with my parents' insistence that it was time I went to bed, but as soon as my parents had retired a few minutes later, Theo and Francie got me back in the game calling out loud enough for my parents to hear, “Donald, thanks for dropping by. Why don’t you join us for a game a cards?” I got away this scam for about 30 minutes before my mom, overcome with curiosity as to who this Donald was, got up and found me at the table. With those memories and many more, Theo’s contagious laugh and broad smile will always stand out first and foremost. - Posted by: Bruce Hanson () on: Jun 24, 2013

Brian: We are so stunned to hear of the passing of your Dad Theo. Russ and Jean are out here in Vancouver for their annual visit. The first thing they asked was when can wee see Theo. The obit ran Sunday in the province and we showed them after dinner. A glass of red was raised in his honor. He was (still is) a life long memory for them as he was the best man at their wedding. To Kim and I he was a true gentleman, and I am proud to say he was also a brother in Freemasonry. He is in our thoughts.. - Posted by: Russ and Jean Yeo (Life long friends) on: Jun 23, 2013

Brian: nice idea to use that poem. I used to recite it to Dad now and then. It was over his desk in his and Mum's bedroom. Many people have been touched by Dad during the course of his life and he will be remembered for his kindness, sincerity, humour and so much more. As he used to sing (often): I've got a horse right here. His name is Paul Revere, etc. etc. and his tribute to my colic after I was adopted by humming to the music of Chopin's Poloniase. Dad was very special to me. He taught me to use the gas lawn mower, use power tools and make a nice Bloody Mary. Good bye Dad. Go and dance with mom to Glenn Miller's Moonlight Serenade.
