JOYCE GIBSON December 18, 1929 - June 20, 2013 After a lengthy illness, with her family by her side, Joyce passed away on June 20, 2013 at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Kenora, ON. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Barry (2004), and will be lovingly remembered by her son Kelly, daughter Pat (Tim Fleury) daughter Jan (Rob Bennett). She will be dearly remembered by her grandchildren: Jenny, Will and Charlie Gibson, Michael and Tim Fleury, Darla Guilbeault, Timea Coulson, and Abby and Hannah Bennett. Joyce was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and was the youngest of seven children of Emily and Reginald Williams. As a young lady, she attended Business College, and then was employed in the advertising department at The Hudson's Bay Co. in Winnipeg, where she met Barry. In their early years of marriage they resided in Sifton and Dauphin, MB and then returned to Winnipeg and spent many happy years raising their family in St. Vital. Mom was a devoted homemaker and many times said how lucky she was to have such great neighbours, affectionately known as the "Westdale Gang". Mom and Dad had very fond memories of neighbourhood music nights, dinners, coffee groups and even street parties. There was always lots of laughter and good cheer all around. In the summertime, the cottage in Minaki became the hub of activity where more memories were made, with family, friends and relatives. In the late 1970s, Joyce enjoyed a new role in her life, as Mom and Dad relocated to Minaki year round and established "The Minaki Trading Company" - their wool and pattern mail-order business. After several years in business they eventually decided to settle in Kenora. While residing at Gardner House, Mom took pride in serving on the Executive committee, and especially enjoyed her role in decorating for the special event dinners. She also spent time enjoying quilting, knitting and cooking for family dinners. Joyce was a kind, caring and classy lady with a gentle spirit. Joyce's family would like to thank all of the staff at Birchwood Terrace for their kind and compassionate care. We would also like to thank Sally Kendall for her many acts of kindness shown to Mom during her stay at Birchwood and throughout the years. At Joyce's request, there will be no service.
