MARK WESLEY OWENS
Date of Passing: Jul 13, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARK WESLEY OWENS After a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer Mark Wesley Owens passed away peacefully on July 13, 2013. Mark is survived by his son Hunter, his mother Diane, his brother Troy, nephews Brandon and Austin, and Troy's wife Nicole, as well as many other relatives and friends. Anyone who knew Mark knew he was not one to sit still for long. Mark lived and worked in every province in Canada. "Itchy feet" as he called them. That all changed for Mark with the birth of his son Hunter, all Mark wanted was to be close to Hunter and settled in Calgary, AB. Mark would always be the first to tell anyone his son was by far the greatest accomplishment of his life. We know Mark will be looking down on Hunter with tremendous pride. Mark was very much a loner, and kept a few close friendships throughout his life. Mark's closest and oldest friend Jim passed away earlier this year as a result of cancer. We know Jim and Dad were waiting for Mark with fishing poles in hand. A celebration of Mark's life will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the home of Troy and Nicole Owens, 27 Lodge Ave. between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for the care they gave Mark during his final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Gary Harding and Dr. Gary Schroeder for the tremendous care they gave Mark the last two years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Marky: We didn't know each other long, but I like to think that we got to know each other well. I miss our talks. I miss sitting in the backyard with you at "oh my God o'clock" in the morning, each of us having our last smoke before bed and talking about nothing in particular, yet it seemed important anyway. I remember you confiding in me, that one of your biggest fears was that you were worried that Troy wouldn't handle your passing well, and how comforted you seemed when I told you that there was nothing to worry about because between Crane and myself; Troy still had 2 brothers left. Be at peace in the knowledge that nothing's changed my friend. Little brother is doing well and Crane and I still got him and always will. I know that you're always looking down on Hunter, but I wanted to let you know that I reach to him every now and then, and he seems to be doing well and maturing into a fine young man...you'd be proud. Be at peace my friend and save a seat by the fire for me...I'll hook up with you again eventually. - Posted by: Irv Benjamin (Family friend) on: Sep 02, 2015

Very sadden to hear that Mark's battle with cancer came to an end but brother you suffered enough. Mark was a childhood friend that I had lost touch with over the years while he itchy footed around our vast country. When he returned to Winnipeg with his mission to beat cancer we were reunited. Mark and I talked indepth about his pride and joy Hunter. He told everyone and anyone how Hunter changed his life. Mark was good hearted man and he will be missed by many. R.I.P Mark. I will see you on the other side buddy. - Posted by: Jeff Sweetland (Friend) on: Jul 20, 2013
