PETER PAUL SADLOWSKI
Date of Passing: Jul 19, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER PAUL SADLOWSKI It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of a loving husband, wonderful father, proud grandfather and even prouder great-grandfather, Peter Sadlowski. Dad is survived by his wife Anna of 67 years; daughters Diane and Judy; son Barry (Bev); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sister Bernice (Emil). Peter was predeceased by son Kenneth; parents John and Katherine; siblings Nick, Michael, Nettie, Mary Ann, Mary, Nellie and Doris. Peter was born on the family homestead west of Winnipeg Beach on July 5, 1924. Upon marrying the love of his life Anna in 1946 they farmed full time until 1956 whereas they moved to Selkirk, MB. For the next 12 years dad worked for Brown's Bread Bakery then for McGavin's Bakery all the while still managing to carry on his grain farming operation. In 1968 dad sold the farm and moved his family to Winnipeg where he operated a meat sales business for Central Products and Foods. Many of his customers and coworkers missed his smile and constant flow of jokes once he retired in 1984 at age 60. Not one to sit still dad occupied his time at their cottage at Winnipeg Beach, with various senior groups and committees of his Ukrainian heritage. No one got away from dad without receiving vegetables from his garden, pages and pages of jokes or at the very least a game of cards!! We the family would like to commend the wonderful staff at the Convalescent Home for their excellent care and compassion for dad over the last six years. Dad was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Peter's life will be held Monday, July 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N. R3M 2N6 or to a charity of their choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Barry, Diana and Judy - my husband Joe and I send condolences to you and your families. We know how close you were to your Dad. I did not see Uncle Peter often but will always remember how much fun he was when he and Auntie Anna came to visit my Mom and Dad (his brother) in Nelson BC. Always with the jokes! We travelled to Winnipeg Beach once when I was little to visit them and we saw them again at Robert's wedding. At that time we took them for a ride to our house and Auntie Anna insisted we stop so they could buy us a present. She bought us some lovely Christmas tree ornaments which we still hang on our tree and say "these are the ones from Uncle Peter and Auntie Anna". Love and best wishes to you all, your BC cousin Shirley - Posted by: Shirley May Karasz (nee Sodlosky) (Niece) on: Jul 25, 2013
