MILDRED MAYER (WHEELER) (LAVALLEE)
Born: Jun 12, 1935
Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED MAYER (WHEELER) (nee LAVALLEE) Surrounded by her family, our beloved mother Millie peacefully passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 after a lengthy illness at Health Sciences Centre. Mom was born June 12, 1935 in Eriksdale, MB and grew up in Chatfield, MB. She came to Winnipeg where she met and married our dad Charles Wheeler and together they raised their four children. She was widowed at a young age, but found happiness again when she met Gilbert Mayer and married for the second time. Mom was a shy but friendly person, and she was generous to a "fault". She lived a quiet and simple life, finding joy and happiness in her family and with her grandchildren. She enjoyed conversations over cups of coffee, going to Bingo and going shopping. She especially loved the Christmas season and never lost that child-like magic for it. Despite her illnesses Mom continued to live her life as full as possible. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her children Lynn, Chuck (Sheila), Candy (Michael) and Crystal (Jim), her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister Lorette, brothers Johnny, Teddy, Lyman and Jerry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Chuck in 1977 and her second husband Gibby in 2002. Also, her mother Emma and father Alexander, two brothers Jimmy and Arnold as well as her son-in-law Robert. In respect to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Monsignor Comeault officiating. Interment will be held at Chapel Lawn as well, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made in Millie's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, Keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever."
