CARROL M. LONGMUIR (nee SEWELL) 1931 - 2013 "The love in your heart wasn't put there to stay. Love isn't love till you give it away." On Friday, August 23, 2013, peacefully after battling heart failure, Carrol Longmuir passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband Neil. Left to forever cherish Carrol's memory are her husband Neil; brother Wes Sewell and his wife Gay; nephew Brian Sewell and his wife Val; niece Cathy Cox, her husband Doug and their children Christina and Cassidy; niece Joanne Caines and her children Gary, Taylor, Liam and Danica; and niece Carrol Macdonald and her husband Jamie; as well she will be missed by her many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ellen and Bert Sewell. For 27 years Carrol worked as an operating room nurse at Deer Lodge Hospital, retiring in 1983. She was an avid sewer, knitter, did wonderful petit-point work and anything to do with crafts. Carrol loved to read and her cookbook collection is legendary. Crossword puzzles were a source of many hours of enjoyment for her. Carrol was the longest serving secretary of the Winnipeg PC User Group. Carrol idolized her husband Neil and showed deep compassion for her friends from work and the community at large. Christmas Eve dinner at her home was an annual tradition. Birthday and anniversary cards for her friends and family never failed to arrive on time each year. For many years Carrol and Neil spent most weekends at Ingolf, Ontario. She loved the cottage but was uncomfortable in the boat. However, wearing her life jacket, she always put on a brave face. On Tuesday, September 3, 2013 Carrol's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at both the Grace Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital who helped Carrol during her stays in hospital. Donations in Carrol's memory may be made to Daryl F. Kraft Endowment Fund, through Department of Private Funding, 179 Continuing Education Complex, The University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2N2. Winnipeg Funeral Director, Richard Wojcik of Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, in care of arrangements, wojciksfuneralchapel.com, 204- 897-4665.

  • Throughout the years, whenever I saw Carrol, she always gave me a warm greeting, with a smile on her face, and a chuckle in her heart. It was obvious to me that she and Neil had what others would wish for in a marriage... Love and Respect for one another, and being each others' Best Friend. She will surely be missed. ...Barb - Posted by: Barb Randle (Fellow Member of WPCUG) on: Aug 28, 2013
