Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARYN RHONA MANDEL On Monday, September 2, 2013, Sharyn Rhona Mandel (nee Cofsky) of Montreal, passed away peacefully at her home in Toronto following a brief but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her closest circle of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ida, and is survived by her sons Gabriel, Michael (wife Joey), and Jarred, grandsons Josh and Tyler, brother Bryan, nieces Kristine, Gillian and Elizabeth, and nephew Larry. She is also survived by the children and grandchildren of her heart - Hope, Charlie, Sophia, Alfie, and Amanda. Sharyn was a teacher, heart and soul. To her, teaching was more than a profession - it was a calling, and her life's purpose. Now, it will be her greatest legacy, as her family and friends carry out her final wish to build a school for girls in a developing country so that children without hope can discover it through learning. In lieu of flowers or donations to cancer foundations, we request that friends and family wishing to honour Sharyn's life visit www.mylivinglegacy.ca to contribute to her dream. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (enter through east gates), Toronto, followed by a private celebration of her life. The family will greet attendees at the cemetery's Visitation Centre at 12:45 p.m. for procession to the grave site (in plot K.) All who knew her will forever remember her for her larger-than-life personality, luminous smile, sage advice and generosity of spirit. The light of knowledge she sparked in family, friends and students will continue to shine, and be passed on for generations to come.
