ALAN ROY ELCOMBE It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Al - dear husband, father, grampa and friend on October 24, 2013. He will be dearly missed by Shirley (his wife of 57 years), sons Kelly (Susan), Kirby (Emily) and grandkids Cayley, Adam and Madison. After enjoying a successful career in the real estate and insurance business, he retired to White Rock, BC in 1987, where he enjoyed his friends at the White Rock Tennis Club and his winter abode in Arizona. The last couple of years he faced many health struggles but fought bravely to the end with no complaints. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

  • We have totally lost one of the good guys. Shirley, we know you have been the most loyal and loving companion and wife there ever was. We send our loving thoughts to you and the boys. • Fondly remembered as "Big Red"! Al was one of a close group of friends that grew up together in the "Banana Belt" of Canada...the Riverview district of Winnipeg...in the '40s and '50s. Game for anything but respected for his athletic ability, loyalty and good sense. In the days of true sandlot teams he enjoyed football and hockey but baseball was his sport. He shared a wonderful marriage with Shirley and family was their focus. In recent years I did a lot of reminiscing about old times and old friends wishing that things could stay the same....but we knew they couldn't! With profound sadness we send our condolences to Shirley, Kelly, Kirby and all of the Elcombe family. - Posted by: John & Charlotte Rendall (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2013
