RUTH SOKOLOSKY 1924 - 2013 Ruth Sokolosky passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary at the age of 89. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Paul. She was mother to Cheryl Prystai of North Vancouver and Steven (Shirley) Sokolosky of Calgary. She will be dearly missed by grandchildren Scott and Sarah Sokolosky. She will also be remembered by nieces Myra (Wally) of Winnipeg and Donna (Bob) of Calgary, and "adopted" daughter Stephie. She was predeceased by sisters Amelia "Iris", Anne, and brother Ernie. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg and married Paul in 1949. By nature, she was strong-willed and determined, the product of growing up in the North End. Mom enjoyed working for several years as a medical office administrator. Ruth and Paul resided in Winnipeg until November 2005 when they relocated to Calgary to be closer to family. Ruth and Paul embraced their new life and friendships created at the Aviemore. A private service will be held in Winnipeg on Friday, November 29, 2013. Our family would like to acknowledge the care given to Mom by Dr. Brian Pedersen, an exceptional and compassionate family physician. We also extend our gratitude to Dr. Wong and the entire staff on Unit 58 at the Rockyview General Hospital during Mom's final days.
