Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESA (TERRY) WIGHT (nee KISS) It is with deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Terry Wight on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the young age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Wight in 1984. Terry was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Annie Kiss on August 27, 1923. Terry came from a large family of 13 brothers and sisters. In her late teens she moved to Winnipeg, to start her adult life. Here Terry met her best friend and love of her life, Jack over breakfast at the local cafe. They were happily married for 36 years. Together they enjoyed vacationing in Mexico, weekends at the Lake, games of scrabble, fine dining, visiting with mutual friends and spending holidays with her sister Margaret and family and Jack's parents Ma and Pop Wight. Terry was a long time employee of Court of Queen's Bench, until she retired at age 65. She spent most of her retirement years travelling the world. Terry visited many exotic places (sometimes twice) and loved each one for their people, history and culture. When not travelling, she spent her time walking the Parks and Streets of St. James where she met and became friends with many fellow walkers and their pets. At the end of a walk Terry would stop at her favorite "Tim's" for coffee and conversation. Somewhere in between all this activity, she found time to read her beloved books and debate politics with anyone interested. The St. James Library was her favorite place and her library card her best investment. Saturday Lunches with her sister Margaret and husband Nick (deceased) and her sister Anne, were a welcome treat. Wife, Sister, Aunt and Friend, she will be missed. Our lives are richer for having known and loved her. It was Terry's wish not to have a Funeral Service. You are invited to visit Terry and her Husband Jack in St. James Cemetery on Portage Avenue. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Rest in peace, Terry! Terry and I met 25 years ago when we traveled together in a tour group through China, Nepal, Thailand, and India. I was a 22 year-old recent college graduate who decided to explore the world through travels. Since both of us were traveling alone without companions, we naturally became "buddies" to sit together on the coach buses, planes, and elephants. Yes, we rode an elephant together in Jaipur, India... What a fun and lovely lady Terry was! We talked endlessly about Canada, China, Nepal, Thailand, and India, educating each other about what we both read and knew separately. We looked for each other when either of us were not around on time for tour, meal, or ride. She was such a good companion to travel with and a wonderful friend. She made me think that all Canadians are as nice, considerate, and friendly. And, that still holds true! We never talked too much about her family, so I had no idea. Frankly, it did not matter to me. I did not know that her husband Jack had passed away a couple of years before. I did not know that she came from a large family. I did not know much about her personal life until I just read her obituary. I just knew that she had a lot of class and a great attitude about all things, people and the world. We kept in touch every year by sending holiday cards, and she never skipped a single year, until now. She sent a detailed note each year updating me on her travels/adventures and some interesting thoughts. About 10 years ago, she mentioned how I was a young man who had just finished college when she and I first met. She was very happy for me then that I got married and had a son. Last year, when I received her holiday card, my ten-year-old son asked me who Terry was. My answer to him was, "my best friend in Canada." I will miss you my best buddy from Canada! RIP. - Posted by: Simon Lee (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2014

We lived next door to Terry for over fifteen years. Terry was a world traveler who read a lot and walked many miles. She was a dear lady and we will miss our conversations with her. - Posted by: Debbie and Kelly Walker (Next Door Neighbour). ((Next Door Neighbour)) on: Dec 08, 2013
