BEATRIX DUNN In the early morning of November 27, 2013 Beatrix Dunn passed away at Riverview Personal Care Home. Born on October 3, 1917 in Brighton, England, Beatrix Stuart Wilson came to Canada as a young teenager. With her mother, Winifred and her sisters Joyce and Lesley, lived in St. Vital. In 1944 she married James Dunn and lived for most of her life in St. James and Tuxedo. For many years she was employed as a secretary at the old St. James School Division, firstly at the collegiate and then as secretary to the superintendent. Having grown up in a family involved in dance and music, Beatrix loved the arts, reading and travel, especially back to England and the sea. Swimming, golf, bike riding and yoga kept her active for years. She had a soft heart for all animals, having many animal companions over the years, and a deep concern for people. She was a hospitable, compassionate, forward looking, and open minded woman. Ahead of her time and a life-long learner, she was challenged by and thoughtfully considered new ideas and other points of view. At the same time, she was devoted to her family and especially to her grandchildren Chris, Jeremy and Daniel. She was a loving and respected mentor for all of us, our touchstone. Predeceased by her husband James in 2011, she will be missed by her daughter Patricia Draper (James); her three grandsons Daniel Draper (Jesse), Jeremy Neal (Erika) and Chris Neal, and her three great-granddaughters Kaia, Mila and Hailey. The family would like to thank the nursing and support staff on CD-3, Riverview Personal Care Home, for their kind care over the past three years. In accordance with Beatrix's wishes, cremation has taken place. A family gathering will be held shortly. Donations may be made in Beatrix's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Just reading my grandmother’s diary of trip to Brighton in 1925! She met Winnie, her husband’s sister and the 3 little girls. Beatriz’s birthday party is mentioned and 19 people came! My grandfather was Bernard Munn. Would love to connect with relatives, thanks. - Posted by: Sheila Munn Walker (My father was a 1st cousin of Beatrix) on: Jan 24, 2022

My much-beloved Auntie Trixie will always be near to my heart; she was a wonderful person who instilled good advice to me over the years. She was loving and intelligent, kind and sensitive to the needs of others. My mother, her sister Joyce, adored her. I see there is mistakenly no mention of her other daughter, Elaine here. Elaine was very devoted to her mother, sharing her time and love with her to the end. I wish the family well and send love and condolences to all. I will think of her often, as I always have done. - Posted by: Nancy Milos (niece) on: Jan 12, 2014
