DORA GREENFELD (nee HOCHMAN) It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Dora Greenfeld on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Dora was predeceased by her beloved husband Izzy, beautiful daughter Sharon, and mother and father Abraham and Rose Hochman. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Roberta Rosenblatt (Fred), son Sherman, and the highlights of her life, her three grandchildren Aaron, Rachel and Zack. Dora was born in Poland on June 5, 1927 and came to Canada when she was three years old. She was a wonderful, kind, generous wife, mother and grandmother. All who knew her said she was "the best of the best", not a mean bone in her body who would do anything for anybody at a moments notice. Shortly after the Hochmans arrived in Canada they opened the famous "Oasis Delicatessen". Dora and all of her brothers and sisters worked very hard to make it the success that it was. However, with the untimely death of her daughter Sharon at age twelve, she decided to remain at home and gave birth to her son one year later. The greatest joy of her life were her grandchildren. She loved them as much as they loved her. She could not do enough for them as they were growing up. The last ten years of her life, Dora was at the Simkin Centre. Her grandchildren would visit her weekly if not more. The staff would always comment that I had such wonderful children as they visited her so often, which was rare. My children would say that Baba was like a mother to them. We would like to thank everyone at the Simkin Centre for their care of mom. They said that she was so gracious, always a "please" and a "thank you" whenever she asked them to do something for her. She will be sorely missed. Funeral services were held at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery on Monday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Aaron Rosenblatt, Shim Goldberg, Larry Hochman, Bernie Bellan, Jerry Floom and Saul Greenberg. In memory of Dora, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Love you Mom "Rest in Peace"
