LEONARD WEINSTEIN Leonard Weinstein (also known as Louie / Lippy), born in Winnipeg, June 25, 1924, passed away in Montreal, Friday, December 13, 2013. Leonard was the son of the late Harry and Sadie Weinstein of Winnipeg, brother to the late Saul Arnold Weinstein and husband of the late Rita Gillman. Leonard served in the Air Force in the Second World War, and became a well respected radio and television producer for the CBC in Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. Leonard was an innovator in creating and producing original educational television programming for the CBC in the 1960s and 1970s - including the long-running "Chez Helen". He was a gentle-natured man who enjoyed playing bridge, reading poetry, listening to classical music and walking on Mount Royal. Leonard is survived by his nephew David Weinstein, and nieces Deborah Weinstein, Andrea DiGiulian and Judy Lewis. He will be truly missed. The family expresses its deep thanks to Leonard's team of caregivers and staff at Jewish Elder Care in Montreal.
