Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVER FERLAND July 27, 1941 - December 17, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Oliver Ferland in Swan River. Oliver was born in Duck Bay, MB to Robert and Lizzie Ferland (nee Thompson). Oliver was predeceased by his parents, brothers Willie, Lawry, Nelson and Edward, sisters Evelyn, Violet and Marlene, father-in-law Alex and mother-in-law Virginia. He is survived by his wife Bertha, children Bob (Shelley), Cynthia (Miles), Ken (Merna), Myles (Pam), Alex (Melanie), Anthony (Rhonda), Billy (Rona), and Ruthie, sister Vickie, brothers Ralph (Sandra), Peter (Florestine), Bill; his 24 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was a hard working, kind hearted and generous man. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and nephews. He enjoyed his visits with his children and grandchildren. Oliver loved a good story and often entertained us with his stories of past hunting trips and his guiding experiences. Dad's passion in life was putting to use his Class 1 and driving trucks. He tried to retire several times but the love of driving trucks enticed him back, which earned him an award from the Minish Group of Companies, most retirements in one year. "The Big "O". Wake services will be held Saturday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. at Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre in Swan River. Prayers to follow at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services to be held at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, 112-7th Ave. S., Swan River on Monday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. Dad every minute of every day thinking of you, missing you, loving you. You were an inspiration to us all.
