Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICK JOHN WILSON Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, Patrick John Wilson passed away at Grace General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. John is survived by his loving wife Marion, his children Sean, Aidan, and Sarah (Justin), granddaughter Bekka, siblings Una, Mary, Loretta, Bernadette, Kathleen, Kevin, Peter, and Malachy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Eileen, father Robert, and brother Tommy. John, as he was known to friends and family, was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, on April 28, 1948. He attended Tír na nÓg Elementary School and Larne Technical High School before leaving Ireland to travel the world. John moved to Canada in 1968, where he worked throughout Canada and the United States as a miner. John moved to Winnipeg and married wife Marion in 1983, and worked as a contractor. John was a loving father who was very proud of his children, Sean, Aidan, and Sarah. He used his skills as a carpenter to build toys, playhouses, and furniture, and he could be counted on to fix anything for family, neighbours, and friends. John will be fondly remembered for his intelligence, strength, and true Irish wit. The family would like to thank the medical personnel, especially Dr. Ball, for their care over the last few years. Thank you also to home care services for making it possible for John to spend the past five years at home. A special thanks to the Grace Hospital third floor staff, for their kindness and care in the last few weeks. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, with viewings from 1:00 1:45 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in John's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation: 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg MB. R3L 0K6 or the SMD Foundation: 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg MB. R3A 1M5. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face And the rain fall softly on your fields And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
