Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLA GRACE COURCHENE May 6, 1933 - December 22, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of Viola (Girly) announce her passing. She was surrounded by family and friends. Viola was predeceased by: her mother, Christina Courchene (nee Alexander); her father, Gabe Courchene; sisters Lucy, Mary-Jane, Angele, and Yvonne; brothers Victor, Stanford, Leo, and Albert. She is survived by: her brother Cyril; sister Doreen; children Beverley, Mervin, Marilyn, and Todd; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Viola raised her family in Fort Alexander and was the matriarch of many. She touched many lives through her traditional medicine, traditional teachings, language, NCI Granny Knows Best' radio show, antique collection and stories from the past. She helped shape and build Fort Alexander to fit the needs of family and friends. Viola is at peace with her Creator and her journey has begun to the spirit world. Thanks to the many people who visited her during her stay at the Pine Falls Hospital and George M. Guimond Personal Care Home. Your kindness is much appreciated. No words can take the place of her laughter, smile and sense of humour. Viola will be greatly missed. According to her wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 with a feast following. You were always there when we needed you, No task too great or small, With a loving heart and a willing hand, For us you did them all. Many thanks for the years you gave us, And for all the times we shared, We only pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared.
