WILLIAM (BILL) M. YOUNG June 29, 1927 - December 26, 2013 Sadly, on Thursday, December 26, 2013, Bill peacefully left this earth. Bill will be forever cherished by his wife Stephanie; son Bill of Calgary, AB; daughter Patricia of Nottawa, ON; daughter Lisa of Winnipeg, MB, and their families; stepchildren Michael (Laurie), Susan (Jason), Alison, Robert, Heather (Neil), and their families. On June 29, 1927 Bill was born in Goderich, ON. As a teenager, he was in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and later served his country in the latter part of the Second World War. Bill started his life-long career in the jewellery business with Young's Jewellers in Kitchener / Waterloo. He then moved onto BIRKS Jewellers in 1957. While with BIRKS he earned his designation of Certified Gemologist Appraiser with the American Gem Society. Bill ended his career with BIRKS in 1981 as Winnipeg Area Manager and subsequently started his own jewellery appraisal / retail store which he operated successfully until his retirement. During that time Bill enjoyed travelling extensively throughout North America, sourcing exclusive pieces for his clientele. In addition, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg, the St. Charles Country Club, and the Manitoba Club, where he served as the 51st President in 1986. In Bill's retirement, he travelled many times to Eastern Canada and the US as well as Calgary to visit family. He enjoyed golf, and was a voracious reader, enjoying a variety of subject matter and authors. Bill met his wife Stephanie in 2001, and they were married in 2002. Their time together was brief, but full of happiness. He will be missed greatly. In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no formal service. Special thanks to Dr. Singh and the staff of 3 North at Grace Hospital for their loving care and support. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
