WALTER ROY (WALLY) MEDYNSKI Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, our beloved father and grandfather Wally Medynski passed away at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Sandra, Dawn (George) Dierickse and special grandson Daniel; sisters Judy (Laverne) Fox and Olga (Bill) Burma. Wally was predeceased by his wife Laura (Crealock) and brothers Bill, Archie and Stan. Walter was raised in the Okanagan Valley. He began his working career with the railway in BC. After that, he joined the RCAF in 1953 as an Aero Engine Technician. While stationed in Portage la Prairie, he met and married Laura. His career took them to St. Hubert, Ottawa, where they started their family, and Trenton, where Wally retired in 1978 after 25 years in the Air Force. Their next move was to Winnipeg where Wally worked for Boeing until his retirement in 1989. He and Laura then moved to Westbank, BC. Walter returned to Winnipeg in November 2012 to be closer to his family. Over all the years, travel (especially camping) was very important to Wally and his family. He also loved to garden and was proud of his flowers and fruit trees. A celebration of Walter's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • While my brother Wally and (Laura, his wife), lived at Westbank, B.C. they grew a big garden and had several fruit trees. Wally was always eager to share his garden goodies with us. After our pails were full, he was very determined to give us more and would stuff our pockets full! He was very generous and so proud of his produce he worked at constantly. His flowers framed his garden, always full of color and humming birds. Our heartfelt condolences to nieces Sandra, Dawn (George) and grandson Daniel as well as Laura's families. You will be remembered in our prayers often and we ask that God will sustain you through the journey to come. His passing saddens us a lot and he will most certainly be missed in our lives! God bless you all! - Posted by: Lavern and Judy (Medynski) Fox and families of B.C. (Sister and brother in law) on: Jan 16, 2014
