Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDA GLADYS SMITH (nee RADFORD) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Linda Gladys Smith on January 25, 2014. Left to mourn are her children; Brian (Shirley), Rhonda (John), Fletcher (Ellen), Karen (Irvin), Clinton, Laird (Rita), Lisa (Mark) and Tina; and grandchildren; Simone, Keely, Margo, Lesly, Caley, Nicholas, Jessica, Lenise, Alaina, Spencer, Ivy, Lydia and great-grandchildren; Zoe, Catriona, Joelle, Tyla and Emry. Linda was predeceased by her husband Roger, son Warren, sister Rose Acres, and parents Harry and Alice Radford. Mum was born in London, England, September 28, 1920. Her life journey started during the war in London where she met her handsome Canadian soldier Roger Smith. After the war she joined her husband Roger in Canada, landing in Halifax as a proud young War Bride. She then laid down her roots in our father's hometown of Winnipeg and began a life devoted to her children, family life and always a family dog. Although Canada became home, England was always close in her heart and voice her English accent stayed with her all her life. She always had new stories to tell of her "London Town." Our home on Radford Street was where her most cherished years were lived. A home where everyone felt welcome, filled with kids, love, songs, laughter, eats and games. Lifetime friends were made in this home and neighbourhood she never forgot it. She had a sense of style and zest for life that we all loved. Mum's favourite summer vacation was packing up the station wagon and heading to Matlock Beach, where it was sure to be an adventure for all. To mum, a "cuppa tea" could solve many a problem. With her British sense of humour and warm heart she touched the lives of all she met. We take from her many lessons of life kindness, faith, generosity and hope. We are forever grateful for all she gave us. God Bless You Mum TTFN A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. John's Cathedral, 135 Anderson Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Oakview Personal Care Home for their care and kindness to our mom.
