Condolences & Memories (31 entries)

  • I met Lyle through my ex-wife. He was a class act and a gentleman. He showed up at every one of my son's soccer games and would always be helpful. We watched a Super Bowl together and I looked forward to his return to the desert. I will miss him and his crazy stories. God bless. - Posted by: Mitch King (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2014

  • I met Lyle back in his days as a junior police constable. As happens, lives go in separate directions but we reconnected a few years ago in …where else…Palm Springs. Never without a story to tell, Lyle was a remarkable man who loved his family and was extremely proud of his sons. Cherish the memories, remember his smile. - Posted by: Barbara Murphy (friend) on: Feb 26, 2014

  • Lyle and I grew up on Riverbend Crescent in St. James - we were held in the same crib by our parents until we were 1 - we were with the police at the same time and over the years reunited where we worked together on investigations - a constant pleasure to be with - a rewarding friend and friendship - was with him during his final days - a lifetime friend - a treasure to remember - see you next time - to Shirley and family my thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Brian Evans (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2014

  • Lyle was a city kid who loved to come to the farm every summer. He got to work and got to know his relatives. Lyle would ride steers and the odd Hog - which he wasn't to good at! While baling hay west of Souris one hot summer day he wanted to "chew" like his older cousins Barry and John, swallow the spit, that he did - he wasn't much good for the next couple of days. I must have been his favorite cousin because after spending time at the farm I was invited to Clear Lake for a few days each summer by Uncle Hope and Aunt Hattie. This is where I learned to swim. Lyle was able to show me the bright lights of Winnipeg when I was at U of M. We were so happy Lyle came to the Moffatt Farm Centennial this past summer. He always enjoyed catching up with his extended family and we enjoyed our visits with him. Rest in peace Lyle. Grant & Family - Posted by: Grant Moffatt (First Cousin) on: Feb 20, 2014

  • I didn't know Lyle well in high school, but we talked from time to time and no doubt played on some intermural teams together. I didn't see him for 50 years after high school, until our high school reunion, but I remembered him well all those years, because Lyle was definitely one of the all-time nice guys. That says a lot. It's very sad that he's no longer with us. - Posted by: Bill Rayner (High School Friend) on: Feb 18, 2014
