  • Hello, I would like to offer my condolences to the family on Muriel's passing. I would like to contact Kristin nee Brophy as well. Please email gkarengreen@gmail.com. - Posted by: Karen E Green (Friend of family) on: Jan 05, 2022

  • I only met Miv around 2000 at a Professional Womens Group in White Rock. We hit it off fast though she had lots of friends already and I was new to the area. Both widowed, we immediatly took lots of local trips, went to any concert in the vicinity and celebrated anything we could! I was sad to see her leave for Winnipeg but we stayed in touch. I still treasure "CALL ME MIV". just as I treasured her friendship. See you heaven. Pat. - Posted by: Pat Flickinger (Friend) on: May 01, 2014

  • Miv joined our family in 1980. Dad was so happy. She instantly became Grandma Miv to my 4 year old daughter when we were much in need of a grandmother. Visiting the Grandparents was always a happy occasion. Miv was always vibrant, warm and gracious, opening their home to all gatherings and celebrations, even my wedding! Within 6 years there were 6 grandchildren in Ottawa and Miv kept smiling and hosting all of us. Our lives were much enriched by her presence. She created a circle of contentment with a style I remember fondly and only hope I could imitate. - Posted by: Patrice Daigle (step - daughter) on: Mar 07, 2014

  • I remember Miv, at the age of 76, phoning to say that she had completed what I knew was a strenuous day-long hike up to the Comox glacier. She was on her way over for a visit at our home in Courtenay. I went out to look for her, but the only person I could see was a young woman striding up the street 3 blocks away. When the young woman was a block away, I wondered if she might be Miv, but dismissed the thought because of her strong, vigorous stride. Sure enough, it was Miv, looking fresh as a daisy. Miv was an excellent writer. Her memoir, “Just Call Me Miv”, is a great read that gave me a clear sense of the fullness of her life and a comprehensible picture of the times she lived in. I am very grateful to her for completing Sam’s memoirs with such deep affection. She and Sam had a strong love for each other and had so many shared interests. It was really inspiring to see the two of them living life together so harmoniously. Good-bye Miv. - Posted by: Stan Simister (step-son) on: Mar 01, 2014

  • Sorry to hear about Miv's passing. With me in Ottawa and Miv in White Rock, I didn't get to see her much over the years, however my mom and I did visit once when I was 10 years old. Miv was kind enough to invite us into our home where we stayed for a few days. She was a bright soul. - Posted by: Larissa Daigle (Muriel was married to my grandfather) on: Feb 28, 2014
