Date of Passing: Mar 18, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHERYL LYNNE MARIE BARNABE (nee VERMETTE) July 13, 1970 - March 18, 2014 Peacefully with dignity and grace Cheryl Barnabe passed away March 18, 2014 at her home surrounded by people that she loved at the age of 43 years. Cheryl is survived by her husband Dan Barnabe; her parents Richard and Betty Vermette; her parents-in-law Denis and Shirlee Barnabe; her children: James, Dylana, Caryssa and Logan; brother Brian (Brenda), nephew Jonathan; sister-in-law Sheri (Shane) nephews Aidan and Owen; and brother-in-law Darin. Cheryl was predeceased by her grandparents Andre and Odile Vermette, and Mike and Margaret Hlatky. Above all else, Cheryl loved her family. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, wife and friend. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Cheryl always put others before herself and being a consummate farm girl, loved working with her mom, dad and Brian, even if it meant bringing a baby or two in the tractor. She made friends, who are considered family wherever Dan's transfers took them. She was very proud of her kids and loved attending their hockey, soccer, dance etc. Cheryl cherished special times at Buffalo Point in her "cabane" with loved family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest and without complaint. She is loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ste. Agathe Catholic Church, with inurnment to take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba; the palliative care professionals at Southern Health, especially Brigitte; her wonderful friends Al and Rachel and family; Dan and Heather and family; Judy, Jana, Missy, Sandy and Lisa; the entire community of Ste. Agathe; and Dan's work "family" who has supported us immensely. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southern Health-Sante Sud-Palliative Care Program. Arrangements entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451

Dan, James, Dylana, Caryssa and Logan, our hearts go out to all of you during this difficult time, and you are in our prayers. We remember spending countless hours at hockey for Dylana and our Delaney, going to many tournaments and even having Logan's baby shower in one of the arena dressing rooms. We have fond memories of such a quiet and kind person who loved her family so very much. We will miss her beautiful smile. - Posted by: Harold and Dominique Schlamp (hockey friends) on: Apr 03, 2014

Our thoughts are with Dan, the kids, family and friends. When I think of Cheryl I think of how she was always the first person to offer to help anyone but never asked for help in return. My heart goes out to Dan, the kids and family. Cheryl was a fantastic person inside and out. She was one of the strongest people I have ever met. I have a lot of fond memories of Cheryl but one of the greatest memories for me of Cheryl was how for 2 summers Caryssa and Dylana would watch my girls. Cheryl would take my girls for weekly field trips with Logan. Cheryl absolutely loved the field trips with them and for that I am truly grateful! She loved my girls as if they were her own. You will never be forgotten, rest in peace. XOXO - Posted by: ANITA FALK & FAMILY (FRIEND) on: Mar 21, 2014

I knew Cheryl mostly from summer days at Lemoine park when our kids would play together. She was genuine and kindhearted and she will be remembered even by those of us that didn’t know her well. She is a reminder of how grateful we all should be to be here. To embrace life, the good, and the not so good, with our families and friends. She will not be forgotten. May you find joy in the sweet memories of those that surround you and my heartfelt sympathy to all her family and friends who were lucky enough to have her in their lives. - Posted by: Sarah () on: Mar 21, 2014

Our deepest condolences to you and all the family. Betty and Richard it doesn't seem right that you lost a child. It's not the way it's suppose to be. We have fond memories of Cheryl at Falcon Lake watching her grow up and become the beautiful person and wife and mother that she was. Angels are made on earth and Cheryl was indeed an angel, and I know she is being cradled in God's loving arms. Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to Cheryl's husband, children, family and friends. Cheryl was a beautiful woman inside and out who always had a smile on her face. I remember her at Ladies Splurge Night teaching us the "scanning code of practice" and being so excited about everyone's purchases. The year that our family joined the group camping at Buffalo Point was extra fun thanks to Cheryl providing cool arts and crafts for the kids. We still have our picture frame covered in glue, sand, seashells, twigs and candy wrappers. You will be greatly missed, Cheryl. - Posted by: Lorry Milan & family (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2014

Cheryl brought so many things to my life. She taught me about; being "Martha Stewart", being frugal, questioning "the scanning code of practice" at the check out, loving unconditionally, zest for life, a good mojito starts in the garden, friends listen even if they think you are nuts, love without judgement, you can have it all, laughing until it hurts is the best pain in the world, being brave, smiling until the end, comforting friends comforts you too, you can start again at 37 and it will be great, famous phrases like "the party is over because the party is leaving", taking each challenge as it presents itself, there is such a thing as "ultra mom", working with Rachel at the golf tournament is dangerous, sitting in a Phoenix café with a coffee, croissant and great friends is perfection, mixing vintage with new, and above all else, family is not defined by blood but by your heart. Cheryl, my world became a brighter place when I met you. I promise to take care of our little blonde friend and I will live my life hoping to make you proud every day. xo - Posted by: Heather (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2014
