EVELINE MARY (MOLLIE) FERGUSON (DUFF)
Date of Passing: Apr 05, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELINE MARY (MOLLIE) FERGUSON (nee DUFF) At the age of 91, Mollie passed away peacefully on April 5, 2014, at the Concordia Hospital, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Warren. Born in Winnipeg, Mollie was the cherished daughter of the late Roy and Eveline Duff; loving mother to James (Marilyn), Derek (Chery), and David (Lynn) and proud grandmother to Madeline, Christopher and Celeste; Matthew and Scott; and Andrew and Claire. After graduating from Kelvin High School, Mollie commenced her career at Great West Life Assurance Co. during The Second World War. After the war, she entered the University of Manitoba with many of the veterans and was among the first women to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Following graduation, she continued her career at Great West Life, ultimately managing their municipal bond investment portfolio. She was a pioneer in her field, being one of the few women of the time to achieve that level of success. At the age of 32, Mollie retired to devote her time to raising her three sons, the loves of her life. Having been an only child, Mollie was often surprised by the rambunctious nature of three active boys. Mollie was a caring mother, who instilled the values of education, hard work and family life in her sons and grandchildren. Mollie was wonderfully supportive to the family's many enthusiastic extra-curricular activities, be they hiking, skiing, boating or scuba diving. Mollie and Warren fostered the love of travel in their three boys, having taken them on many memorable family vacations, both near and far. During Warren's two years as president of the Manitoba Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mollie and Warren greatly enjoyed the opportunity to travel and meet new friends while promoting the organization's cause of charity and community service. In retirement, they became fitness enthusiasts at the Kinsmen Reh-fit Center where they regularly exercised for 23 years. Mollie enjoyed the past four years residing at Riverwood Square having met many new friends. Mollie had the rare distinction of knowing every resident's name. Mollie was the matriarch of the family and a true inspiration. Mollie had a kind, loving, compassionate and gentle nature and she will be missed terribly by her family and all who knew her. She defied the effects of old age, remaining vital, relevant, charming and chic to the very end. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the medical and nursing staff of the Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 254 Arnold Avenue followed by a reception at the Manitoba Club, 194 Broadway. I have fond memories of the Ferguson family and days growing up in Wildwood Park. We had many good times as children playing together especially in the summers when we had the freedom to hang out and explore - until Mr. Ferguson's incredible whistle would call missing children home. My thoughts are with you - Jimmy, Derek and David. From your old neighbor in Section G - Elizbeth Redston - Posted by: Elizabeth Redston (Wildwood Park neighbour) on: Apr 27, 2014

I had the pleasure to meet both Mollie and Warren about 5 years ago when they moved to Riverwood Square. I have never seen two people so much in love. It was so much fun to see them dancing across the front lobby with Warren singing to Mollie. I am so Happy they are both together again in Love Forever. God Bless You both.
