TARLETON (JEFF) DAVID SHEARER It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tarleton "Jeff" David Shearer, peacefully at Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in his 85th year. Loving husband of 42 years to Willa (nee Paterson, 2004) and devoted father to David and Kevin (Nadine); cherished Grandpa to Brook, Makayla, Brenden, Morgan, Sam and Mason the joys of his life. Also survived by his loving sister, Margaret Ridgway of Edmonton and many special nieces and nephews. A prairie boy to his core, Tarleton was born in Welwyn, SK in 1929. This is where, at the age of 18, he started his banking career; one that took him on a tour through many prairie cities and towns over his 40 years at the TD Bank. Tarleton thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years spending many winters in Florida with Mom and never losing his passion for music. In celebration of Tarleton's life, a come and go reception will be held at the St. Charles Golf and Country Club, 100 Country Club Blvd., Winnipeg on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Words of remembrance to take place at 6:00 p.m. Special thanks to all his close circle of friends that supported him through life after Willa passed away, especially dear Lib. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Wojcik's Winnipeg Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665, is in care of arrangements wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Tarlton was my godfather and he and Wilma were special friends of our family. Tarlton always welcomed us into his home when we visited Winnipeg and made us feel like we were part of the family. He spent many years in retirement down in Clearwater Florida with my parents - Ann and Clarence Caughlin. I can still remember his laugh and funny sense humour. He will be missed yet smiling down on his grandchildren. - Posted by: Ron Caughlin (God Son) on: May 26, 2014

  • Dear David, Kevin, Nadine and families: Our sincere and deepest sympathy to all of you. We were so saddened to hear this news of your Dad. He was a devoted and loving family man, and it was so evident how very proud he was of you and his grandchildren. We have many fond memories of Tarleton. As much as this is a sad and difficult time, there is indeed much to celebrate and special words to be shared for a lifetime that was full of many good times with family and friends; a life that was well lived by your Dad. Our prayers and love are with you today, and always. - Posted by: Bob and Michelle Patterson, and Bob and Joan Patterson (Family ) on: May 06, 2014

  • We only met twice, a mere blip in your life but I was impressed by your spirit and your laughter. I'm sorry we will never get to make happy music together. Rest in peace. You've been good to my friend, Lib. Thanks for that. - Posted by: Guy Simonis (Acquaintance) on: May 03, 2014

  • Jeff Shearer was my first Manager (Sargent and Erin Branch) when I joined TD Bank. Simply put, he was "the best". He left a profound and lasting impression, because of his patience, his guidance, his leadership and his sense of humour. In every sense, he was a gentle soul. I consider myself fortunate to have known him, and lucky to have worked with him. My thoughts are with the family that he has left behind. You have lost a rare and special individual! - Posted by: Dianne Englot Brockmeyer (Former employee) on: May 03, 2014
