JAMES DOUGLAS WATKINS It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James Douglas Watkins on May 7, 2014 at the age of 68 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia, son James (Linda), daughter Kimberley (Paul), grandchildren Jack and Megan, brother Bill (Shirley), sister Sandra, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. James is predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel. James worked for the City of Winnipeg as a streets foreman for 31 years. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, willingness to help others and for his love of family and friends. He also had a great sense of humour and loved his dogs as well as fast cars which he kept in immaculate condition. Dad loved rock music and had it loud most of the time. He enjoyed his time with family at the cabin at Winnipeg Beach and enjoyed family trips, especially the one to the Grand Canyon. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. We would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Seven Oaks Hospital who cared for Dad with a genuine loving spirit that we will always remember (the staff referred to Dad as "Jimmy" which he liked).
