JULIAN (GENE) EUGENE MEUSH Peacefully with his family by his side Julian (Gene) Meush passed away at the age of 78 years, on Friday, June 27, 2014 in St. Boniface General Hospital. Julian leaves behind his wife of 57 years Lillian Meush (nee Beaucage); his five children Catherine, Robert (Rolande), Stephen (Marianne), Lorelei (Andy), Michelle (Scott), and their families; his beloved grandchildren Favian, Robert (Sarah), Brittany, Christine, Julian, Jesse, Melissa, Cody, Shane, Austin, and Alex; great-grandchildren Matthew, Lyndsay, and Alexander; his brothers John, Ron (Margaret), and Don Kruk (Bonnie); and sister Marie Andrews (Rob). He is predeceased by his father Stephen and mother Stephanie; grandson-in-law Jeremy Jager; brother Anatol, and his beloved grandson Adam Debusschere. Julian was born in Arran, Saskatchewan on March 25, 1936. He graduated with a certificate in Electronics from Tec-Voc High School. After high school, Julian joined the Canadian Air Force reserves to continue his education and serve his country. After a couple of jobs in the aviation industry, he joined Honeywell Ltd., and spent over 30 years in various capacities with the company. He was held in very high regard by his industry peers and colleagues, and was often sought after for his expert advice and opinions. Julian retired from the workforce in 1994. After retirement, Julian loved to spend time tinkering with various projects, especially at his cottage on Big Whiteshell Lake, a cottage he designed and built from scratch. He loved to spend long lazy summer days at the lake with close cottage friends and family. His children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their families were blessed to have had many fond memories of being at this special place where his jovial spirit and his special brand of humour made everyone feel welcome. Julian was particularly fond of, and liked spending time with his grandchildren, especially Brittany with whom he had a special bond. He will be sadly missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg, with a eulogy beginning at 1:45 p.m. The family would like thank the doctors and nurses on 4A and ICU at St. Boniface General Hospital for the care and compassion they have shown during his stay. May you rest in peace in God's special embrace.

  • We are at Helena's place in Connecticut and heard the news of Gene's passing with great sadness. Block 9 will never be quite the same. Memories fill our minds of building cottages at the same time in the 60's, families growing, kids playing together and driving to church on Sundays. Gene's smile was always welcoming and he was willing to help others out any time. The family is in our thoughts and prayers. We'll be home soon and see you at the Whiteshell. - Posted by: Alina Chmielowicz, Helena and Barbara (lake friends) on: Jul 02, 2014

  • Please accept my condolences in the loss of your loved one. Gene and Peter worked together at Honeywell and Peter spoke often and fondly of Gene. I am sure they are chatting up a storm in their Heavenly home. God Bless. - Posted by: Gayle Hallock (Widow of former Honeywell colleague Peter Hallock) on: Jul 02, 2014

  • I lost one of the greatest people I have ever known. Grandpa Meush, after a good fight, passed away peacefully. He will be greatly missed and I know I will see him again one day. Grandpa, thank you for the memories. Your "Ribbner" (as he called me when I was a kid) will cherish them forever. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Robert Meush (Grandson) on: Jul 02, 2014
