AMY SOKE Amy Soke (nee Brockwell) passed away peacefully July 10, 2014 with family by her side. Amy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by sons Arden and Carson (Kim), daughter Kim, and grandchildren Jessica (Garett), Pamela, Caycie, Brenden, Cole, Tanner and Bryanna. Predeceased by her beloved husband Harvey and dog Kelly, she will also be greatly missed by her younger brother Charlie. Born in Winnipeg in 1935, Amy's family moved to Saltcoats, SK after the flood of 1950 where she met her future husband Harvey, "the handsome one with the dark curly hair". The two married and started a family upon relocating to Winnipeg. The family's beloved cottage at Beresford Lake was a hallmark of her children and grandchildren's youths; a place where they all swam, fished and enjoyed good company. In the city, Amy was always out in her yard gardening, sitting on her front stoop with visitors or taking walks around the neighbourhood with friends. Amy had a generosity of spirit that revealed itself in a warm greeting for a stranger and a praising comment for every passing animal. She taught us all how to be kind and how to treat others with love; for that we are all much better people. We love you Mom, we'll miss you Grandma and thank you for everything. Amy requested a small private memorial. The family wishes to thank all of those who thought of and cared for her during her last few months; Dr. McClure and the care givers for their guidance and support, and Dr. Leon for the trip to the garden. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
