THELMA ELIZABETH CAMPBELL Thelma Elizabeth Campbell, born May 22, 1922 in St. Vital, to Florence (nee Baldock) and Robert Brown, was called to heaven on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her sister, Roberta McConnell; daughters Judy (Rick) Brown of Yale, BC and Roberta (Bob) Davis; son Ralph Campbell Jr. of Surrey, BC; grandchildren Deborah Goodman, Daniel Patterson, Ken (Minoo) Patterson of Toronto, and Nicholas Patterson; great-grandchildren MacGregor and Joseph Goodman, Dylan Patterson of Toronto and niece Brenda McConnell of Portage la Prairie. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph (1993); daughter Cheryl (1949); grandchildren Derrien Brown (1979) and Christopher Patterson (1989), and niece Donna McConnell (2013). Graduating in 1941 from St. Mary's Academy, Thelma was employed at the Bank of Montreal, Perth's, and later at The Bay. She met Ralph Judson Campbell while serving in the canteen for military personnel. They married in 1944 and enjoyed gardening and travelling to visit family across Canada. She proudly served in all offices of The Daughters of England Benevolent Society taking part in projects such as sending bundles to Britain during the Second World War. Thelma also sent many food parcels to family in Kent, England during the war. Despite poor eyesight, bowling until she was 88, for many years she served on the executive of the Glenwood Ladies Bowling league. An expert at knitting and crochet, family and friends enjoyed lovely baby gifts. An avid puzzler, Thelma loved solving Jumbles and crosswords and often won radio prizes. Born with a green thumb, Thelma's gardens flourished indoors and out. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Thank you to St. Boniface Hospital 4th floor staff, who thought Mum was "awesome". Your loving care is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital or CNIB.
