ANNE (PRIES) DICK July 27, 1930 - July 16, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne (Pries) Dick who has gone to be with Jesus and her eternal home. She had never been a patient in a hospital until Wednesday, July 9, 2014 when she suffered a stroke which led to her death on July 16, 2014 at the age of 83. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her husband Alf Dick; brothers David, Erwin (twin) and Victor; sister Margaret Enns, and their spouses. She will also be missed by Alf's siblings and the many Pries and Dick nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents David and Susanna Pries; two sisters Olga and Frieda, and one brother John. Anne worked as a teller in Brandon and Winnipeg. She took the Secretarial course at Red River College in Brandon and upon graduation worked in that capacity at the college. Following that, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Tabor College in Kansas; the president's secretary at Palliser Furniture, and then as Assistant Librarian at Concord College in Winnipeg. She met her future husband while both were employed at Palliser in 1980. They were happily married for 33 years. She loved to travel and spent time in North America, South America and Europe. At the age of 83, Anne expressed a desire to once more hike the mountains of Banff. Hiking in the mountains was a favourite holiday activity. In addition, daily walks were an important part of her healthy living. She loved to volunteer and helped in a variety of ways which included teaching Sunday School and Daily Vacation Bible School, Ladies Fellowship and Visitation Program for McIvor Church, and volunteering at Ten Thousand Villages. A special thank you for the compassionate care given at Concordia Hospital. A celebration of Anne's life will take place on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ten Thousand Villages or the Concordia Hospital Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I met Anne when I started work as secretary to the Registrar at Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS. Our offices were across the hall from each other. I was new to Hillsboro and knew nobody. Anne was a lifesaver for me. She was so kind and supported me in any way I needed help. Anne was just a lovely person and I have thought of her many times over the years. I moved from Hillsboro and we lost contact. I heard that Anne went back to Canada and married. I tried to contact Anne one time a few years ago but I was spelling her name as Dyck and now it is too late to tell her how much I loved her and appreciated her friendship. Now God has a special angel and so do all of you who knew and loved her. I so regret not finding Anne sooner. She was so special and I am so glad God lent her to me for a few years. With love and prayers, Marva in Kansas. - Posted by: Marva Hanson Homrighausen, 704 E. Chippewa, Paola, KS 66071 (I worked with Anne at Tabor College, many years ago.) on: Feb 06, 2015
