RICHARD HENDERSON RUSSELL 1925 - 2014 On the evening of Sunday, July 20, 2014 Richard passed away peacefully at the Poseidon Care Centre. Left to survive Richard are his wife of 62 years, Norma; and his three children, Don (Doreen), Lynne (Jack) and Ken (Carolyn); as well as grandchildren, Michelle (Mike), Marina and Tim; and great-granddaughters, Hana and Kendall. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Donna; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four sisters; Grace, Kay, Evelyn and Joyce; and brother, Dennis. Richard was born and raised in Souris, Manitoba and had many fond memories of growing up there, especially the swinging bridge. He moved to Winnipeg to attend university, graduating with a Civil Engineering degree in 1950. During his career with Dominion Bridge he moved to many cities in Canada before finally settling down in Winnipeg in 1971. Richard and Norma were involved in curling at the Wildewood Club, playing bridge, and socializing with their large group of friends. After retirement, he was involved with the Re-Fit Centre, the Professional Engineering Society and with the Victoria Lifeline. The family would like to thank the staff at Poseidon for the care shown to our father while he lived there, especially the nurses and aides on the 4th floor.
