BERYL C. SINGLETON (DANIEL)
Date of Passing: Jul 25, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERYL C. SINGLETON (nee DANIEL) In loving memory of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Beryl, who passed peacefully at the age of 92, on Friday, July 25, 2014. Predeceased by her parents Christine and Reginald, her sisters Audrey and Cynthia, and most recently by her husband of 73 years, Ross, she leaves to mourn her two sons Jon (Barbra), Mark (Nancy), grandchildren Arwen, Bram, Kirk, Christopher, and Leah. and nine great-grandchildren. Beryl was born on Jersey Island (Channel Islands) and came to the Ottawa region at the age of seven. She was a star pupil throughout her schooling and possessed a beautiful voice that was shared in her church choir and occasionally on the radio. She met Ross while he was in training for the Air Force near Ottawa and married him in 1941. They moved to Guelph while Ross earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the college. This was when their two sons were born. Upon his graduation the family moved to Manitoba, spending time in Selkirk, Swan River and Winnipeg. Mom made dozens of dear friends over the years and was an avid bridge player and renowned hostess, with an unmatchable roast beef dinner. She volunteered for years at the Victoria Hospital gift shop. Her family always came first and she was extremely proud of her offspring. Mom had an easy, beautiful smile and a witty, sharp tongue when the occasion called for it. She will be deeply missed, especially by Kayla, Kai and Callie, the great-grandchildren, who always had hugs and kisses and smiles for their great Nana! Gratitude goes out to the staffs of Riverwood Square and River Park Gardens who always treated Mom with obvious caring, respect and a smile. At Mom's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to River Park Gardens, 735 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2N 0C4.
